Toxic Business - check out my latest blog at www.timmydou.wordpress.com How can I even begin to express my disppointment, irritation, and “righteous” indignation at leaders who will NOT take blame or responsibility for their organization? And I’m not talking state or national politics because those bridges are burning and burnt. Not wasting my breath! I don’t understand the concepts – blame, toxicity, dumping. We’ve all been hurt. We’ve all “got junk.” We all want to succeed. But we ALL can overcome the desire and need to pass these things on to other people. We can all choose to own our own stuff, take responsibility, learn new skills and contribute rather than take. (Again this is not about politics but – hey – if the shoe fits) I just wonder who will be the people of the “greatest generation” to step up and BE the change? Who will be the Boomers, the Busters, the Millenials, the Gen Zs and the Gen Alphas, to stop the rise of anger, toxicity, the proliferations of “isms,” and lead with gracce and humility? Stepping into Children's Hospital Colorado yesterday was like diving into a whirlwind of emotions. Amidst the pain, there was an undercurrent of joy, and tears of both sadness and happiness flowed freely. The atmosphere crackled with inspiration, grit, and determination, making it a place unlike any other. As I waited for my son's final X-rays after his year-long journey with a broken ankle and some shiny new screws, I couldn't help but be struck by the resilience of everyone around us. Kids in there were fighting like TITANS... and the staff? They were total rockstars. Serious when they needed to be, but always ready with a joke or a smile to lift spirits. It was a powerful reminder that healing isn't just about fixing bones—it's about nurturing the soul too. And in that moment, it was clear that even in the darkest times, we're never truly alone, if we are okay with opening our door. Reflecting on this experience, I'm reminded of the TITAN 100 community. It's a group of individuals who battle, fight for their beliefs, challenge norms and push boundaries. But they're also servant leaders, always putting others first and lifting spirits along the way. It's a community that understands the struggles...the sleepless nights...but never lets off the gas! Leadership can be a lonely road at times, but when you're surrounded by vision, impact, and support, it fuels you to keep moving forward. I'm grateful for that broken ankle. It taught us both so much about resilience, about ourselves, and about the beauty of the world around us.
