I was honored to join Resourcing Tomorrow and reconnect with longtime colleagues and friends while serving on a panel exploring what buyers of mined materials, like Rivian, look for when sourcing responsibly. The conversation offered a chance to reflect on how far the practice of responsible mining has come over the last two decades. I thought back to the early days of IRMA Initiative for Responsible Mining Assurance when I was at Tiffany & Co. helping to build a standard designed to ensure value for workers, communities, mining companies, and buyers alike. Cross-sector collaboration and diverse perspectives always make these discussions stronger. It was a privilege to share the stage with Fabiana Di Lorenzo, Ph.D, CDI.D, Joël Frijhoff, Rebecca Burron, Sarah Makumbe, Francesco Gattiglio and Isabelle PAULIN JARDEL. Given the scale of the challenges—and opportunities—before us, collective action is essential to steward the energy transition. There is more to be done.
