How did CONTAX migrate to SAP HANA Cloud in less than 24 hours? ⏱️ Using self-service migration for SAP HANA Cloud, CONTAX started its move to SAP HANA Cloud on a Friday evening and was using the native storage extension features in SAP HANA Cloud by Sunday morning. In doing so, CONTAX shifted nearly two-thirds of its data into warm storage, where it would consume only a quarter of the main database memory quota. This allowed CONTAX to reduce its overall memory footprint by 25%. “Even with our on-premise instance of SAP HANA that was maxed out on memory and had a large and complex deployment infrastructure using containers, we were still able to migrate to SAP HANA Cloud in less than 24 hours.” - Brian McDonnell, Lead Software Engineer, CONTAX Inc. One of the most crucial steps of any business looking to become "cloud-ready" is moving their data from their on-premise systems to their cloud counterparts. This task can sometimes be daunting as there are many factors that need to be taken into account, such as database technologies, efficiency and reliability of transfer processes, or even the behavior of 3rd party integrations on the new systems.
