December 2022 I started my company with the incredibly original name Hansen Johnsson AB. The company name came about after X number of bottles of wine shared with my wife and my brother at the dinner table. You should know what suggestions came up during the evening and what ideas popped up like methane gas in the water. But as I said, everything ended up in Hansen Johnsson AB! I got a lot of questions in my network about what I should do, what could I offer? The truth is that I didn't know, I have many years in the waste industry with varying roles and mostly as responsible for something, never been an expert in a specific area, never pretended to be a specialist. I just know a lot of things about everything and have an ability to see the problem, break it down, solve it and thereby deal with complex issues in a simpler way - what does such a person do and above all why start your own business without a clear business idea? My idea was really that companies, individuals and various organisations would be able to use my experience in their business, strategies and through me get an extra point of view on their own thoughts and visions. In other words, provide the conditions for my customers to develop and drive their business towards better profitability and more efficient management - not the easiest thing to sell, or explain. It's been a while now and I'm happy to say that my ambition is becoming a reality. Since the start, I have worked with a number of different companies with assignments that they needed/need help with. In my industry, it can sometimes be difficult to navigate between companies, business opportunities and development as the industry (in my opinion) is quite small. As an independent worker, I want to do a good job for the person who hires me, but at the same time show the world that I exist, in my opinion a balancing act that may affect my own career in the future. Regardless of this, I find great joy in what I do and am currently busy with various projects, despite my 25 years in the industry, I learn new things almost every week - cool! So really I just wanted to say hello to my network - so; HELLO!

𝗖𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝘆: 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗧𝗼 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝗔𝗻 𝗔𝘄𝗲𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗻𝘆 Building a business is hard. With very few exceptions, it takes more work, more money, and way more time than we ever anticipate. Along the journey, there is lots of self-doubt, lots of long days grinding while wondering whether it’s all worth it, sleepless nights, low bank accounts, and a million questions. There are no shortcuts, there are no hacks. There is just consistent smart and hard work 💪🏻 I’ve had the absolute honor of working with and becoming good friends with the gentlemen at Braga Brothers Contracting over the past few years 😁 Yesterday was a really cool moment in our journey together, when 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗕𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗮 did some attic ventilation and roof work at our home 🏡 I got to hang with the man himself, 𝗥𝗮𝘆 𝗕𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗮, father to Luke, Pedro, and Thiago. Luke, Pedro, and Thiago are three brothers in their mid-twenties, who have built an incredible brand and company in just a few years. And they truly are just getting started 🤩 The reasons they are successful is because they are high quality humans, they have a clear vision, and they operate by their core values every day. From a tactical perspective, these are some of the reasons they have built a successful business: ✅ They have an extremely clear vision for what they want and why ✅ Their whole team is aligned with that clear vision ✅They have core values by which they operate daily ✅They ask a ton of questions and take action on the answers they get ✅They are constantly educating themselves and training to get better ✅They believe in the power of a brand, and focus on building their brand daily ✅They have committed to consistent video content from Day 1 ✅They invest nearly all of their profit back into their business ✅They are fanatical about providing an amazing client experience ✅They are open to feedback, and actively seek feedback from various people ✅They utilize technology in every aspect of their business There are companies in their local market that have been around for decades, and are excellent at what they do. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗮 𝗕𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝘀 have been able to come in and establish themselves as a leading player in just a couple of years due to the things I’ve listed above. "I always tell people that, as a managing director, you're wearing three hats. One is the hat of the shareholders. One is the hat of the business, the staff and the people. And the other is the hat of self-interest. It's very easy at moments like that to wear the wrong hat. It was evident at this moment self-interest wasn't the thing to focus on because the step up in the benefits to the shareholders was so significant." For my recent corporate history book (see the link below), an ASX-listed business commissioned me to update and expand its story into the 21st century. For the project, I undertook lengthy interviews with more than 20 people including many former and current CEOs, board members, executives and employees involved with the business over the past 40 years. These interviews provided a wealth of information and stories about where the company had been, what it had got right, and even what it had got wrong. Talking to them revealed the hidden pressures and personal struggles faced by those charged with leading organisations, especially in challenging circumstances. Their experiences provided perspectives beyond those gleaned from regular research material like archival company documents and newspaper reports. Dates and milestones provide the skeleton structure for writing the story of an organisation's history. But the flesh and blood come from talking to the people who were there. That's when stories take flight, and you get real insight into what makes an organisation tick, what's in its DNA. The Go-Giver: 5 Laws of Value Creation We had the privilege of hosting Pastor Dennis Sy at the BGE Altura office on September 20, 2024. His visit left a lasting impression on all of us. He talked about the 'Laws of Value Creation' and how they apply to both business and life. As a business owner, his insights truly resonated with me. Here are my key takeaways from his talk: 1. The Law of Value – Your true worth is determined by how much more you give in value than you take in payment. 2. The Law of Compensation – Your income is directly linked to how many people you serve and how well you serve them. 3. The Law of Influence – Your influence is determined by how abundantly you place others' interests first. 4. An ASX-listed business commissioned me some time ago to update and expand upon its rich history. The result was a 55,000-word book that included in-depth interviews with former and current chairs, CEOs and employees and extensive archival research. The book was recently published by Allen & Unwin. Understanding your organisation's history can provide valuable lessons and insights into its past, present and future. Documenting an organisation's achievements and challenges, as well as its people and stories, can also give employees and stakeholders a richer sense of its ethos and purpose. Such an exercise does not have to take the form of a book. It could be a series of articles, additional website pages, or social media posts.
