As Monday closes, just reflecting on another great event with our The Purpose Coalition colleagues, and fellow members.
Delighted that the opportunity allowed for the publishing of our collaboration on development of the #socialscopes framework; transforming the way we think, and action, how business drives #socialmobility.. always through an #Impact lens!
Also, an opportunity to say au revoir to our CEO, Sean Haley who has been instrumental in how we work with fellow, purpose-led, businesses across this agenda.
Looking forward to working with colleagues on how we bring this to life in 2025, and beyond!

March is officially B Corp month - a global campaign which recognises the positive work of B Corp companies from all corners of the world. Not only are we part of a group of change-makers promising better, brighter, and bolder things for our planet, but we are exceptionally proud to be one of just 25 B Corp PR agencies in the UK (in case we hadn't mentioned it...)
The theme of this year's celebrations is 'The Way Forward' and we are delighted to share B Corp's official video to mark the campaign, and highlight the many ways team Rooster pays it forward:
🐓 For one, we guarantee our results - we're the only PR and comms agency in the UK to offer this. Whether it's bums on seats at an event, your monthly coverage KPI or growth across your social channels, we always deliver the goods. It's no surprise we scored an epic 5/5 in the B Corp certification process for client services!
🐓 We recognise the need to support the emotional, mental, physical and professional wellbeing of our staff - from exceptional employee benefits like unlimited holiday to hefty individual training budgets, we always have our colleagues' backs.
🐓 We deliver knockout results across the music, technology, lifestyle, fashion and design sectors - but we love to work on projects close to our hearts, too. Most recently, we supported a local environmental project to campaign against the development of a reservoir in the Oxfordshire countryside - reducing local residents' daylight hours by 15 minutes each day.
🐓 We have made multiple changes to our office environment to ensure we live, and work, more sustainably at the Coop - with some major changes coming very soon (watch this space...!)
We'd love to hear from fellow B Corp brands about how you're getting involved in this month's campaign.

UNLEASH World is just 3 weeks away!!
Ahead of the show, I am sitting down with some of our incredible speakers to get a sneak peek of what they're going to be speaking about in Paris.
This week I spoke with Dannii Portsmouth FCIPD, CPO at PepsiCo Europe! We chatted all about purpose and meaning at work, and how the food and drinks giant provides this both internally (through upskilling and learning), and externally (by doing good in the wider community).
PepsiCo is also working with non-profits like the Tent Partnership for Refugees; the employer has committed to not just mentor refugee women in Europe, but also hire 500 refugees by 2026.
Huge progress has been made already, and this is a long-term investment for the food and drinks employer!
It was great to see how having a social impact is not just the right thing to do for PepsiCo, but is the financially sensible thing to do.
Dannii shares that they they “help us to attract and retain our people for the long term, which then has an immeasurable impact on the company". 💰
I can't wait to hear more from Dannii in Paris, and dig into more to his partnership with Tent, and her thoughts on the themes of the conference!
Want to join us in Paris? It's not too late to buy a pass: https://lnkd.in/ePtaXaAz (If you're a HR leader, DM me, and I might have some free tickets for you...)

Our chair, Ruth Hinton, recently hosted a meeting with some of the agency-side supporters of our Working Well Together Charter. As with the similar meeting she hosted for client-side supporters a few weeks ago, there was lots of positivity and support for the aims of the Charter.
Agency supporters explained some of the reasons why they want to be involved with the initiative, including
✅ Strengthening partnerships leads to more relevant and impactful insights, while also improving talent retention by creating a positive work environment
✅ Helping clients understand the unintended consequences of their behaviours can make them more aware and mindful of the potential impacts
✅ There is a need for some senior clients to embed good practices in their teams, and the initiative offers practical ways to improve agency-client relationships
✅ Respecting agencies' time, especially at the proposal stage, is crucial for maintaining motivation and improving collaboration, ultimately enhancing the quality of insight work.
They also volunteered ways they can help drive awareness of this initiative, and keep it top of mind so it becomes something active and not just passively supported, for example
✅ Referring to it in their proposals and credentials decks, so it can provide a prompt for a conversation
✅ Introducing it when they start working with new clients and are establishing ways of working
✅ Using it as a framework to help give some structure to awkward conversations, when things are going wrong in a project or relationship
✅ Stepping up to give feedback and raise issues, albeit this may be uncomfortable at first, but beneficial in the long run.
Finally, they offered ideas to help client and agency teams activate and embed the principles in their work together, and we are taking these on board for our next phase of this initiative.

It’s fantastic to see the AURA Insight Working Well Together Charter being so well supported by agencies, partners and friends. It’s heartening to see the charter grow from idea into a real way of working and particularly that those outside AURA are keen to offer support and suggestions on how the charter can be implemented across the wider industry. I know I’ve certainly been far more mindful of reducing the number of agencies I approach for response to tenders. It would be good to know how any other AURA members have used the charter in your organisations…

Sustainability feels like a jigsaw puzzle at the moment. Many of us have a few pieces to the puzzle, and some may have even managed to work out how a few pieces fit together, but no one has the complete picture. The only way we can get the full picture is through collaboration and solving the tricky areas of the puzzle.
What I love about working with other B corps or B curious businesses is that they are often incredibly open to sharing what they have discovered and equally open about what they still need to work out and/or learn. Their egos and sales pitches get left at the door.
How often do two or three businesses from different industries freely collaborate on a shared mission? The power of combining the skills of different industries & individuals should not be underestimated.
Last week, the Surrey B local event showcased what the B Corp community offers to small businesses and why we need more businesses from diverse backgrounds and industries to join and help build a better business in the UK.
Another great example was today when we had an exploratory chat with a local B corp, Tax practice, which is part of our Surrey Sustainable Professionals Group. (part of Sebastian Elwell FPFS TEP 's presentation last week)
We wanted to explore what change models were available for tax advisers and whether we needed to create ( find) a new model to support accountants and tax advisers in their journey towards sustainability. We didn't know what the meeting's outcome would be, and it could have achieved nothing.
By the end of our meeting, we had sketched out what is likely to be the starting point for our first draft principles of "sustainable tax and accountancy advice." ( maybe two models).
Both practices are considering how we build/measure service/advised emissions into our onboarding and monitoring processes. Advised emissions are a complicated problem that will take time to resolve. (The consultation is still looking for responses.)
Again, thank you goes out to the Surrey B local speakers and co-chairs for delivering another inspiring event.
Fingers crossed, we get to attend another great event soon.

What better way to wrap up B Corp month than with this epic B Local Surrey event last week. We nailed collaboration by bringing together the business and academic communities on the topic of the journey to better business. Thanks Nick Brincat for summarising it in this great video that brings a sense of the event.
I think the key takeaway for me is the move from an economy based purely on GDP to one that focuses on the wellbeing of humanity. For far to long we have assumed that money brings happiness but with rising illness, mental health and reducing resources on our planet this is not the model for a healthy future for us. What we showed during our event is how business can be (and in so many cases is) the force for good we need to create a better future.
Thank you to University of Surrey for hosting us, our incredible expert speakers Lorenzo FioramontiMaisie TildesleyDr Victoria HurthAndrew GriffithsSoulla Kyriacou sharing their frameworks for a better business and to the businesses who shared their stories and practical tips so we can all feel inspired to take action.
And of course, huge thanks to all our team behind the team, the B Local Surrey co chairs Sebastian Elwell FPFS TEPMatthew LetleyHannah Keartland - outsourced Chief Impact OfficerDan Webber my legend of a colleague at Something Big Charley Emery-Miller and the support of the Institute for Sustainability Nathalie Hinds and Lydia Joan Melville#BCorpMonth#TheJourneyToBetterBusiness#BCorp
Our 'E'Co-Working Day is back! 💚
We're putting on a #FringeEvent as part of Yorkshire Sustainability Festival on 11th June.
As business leaders we can spend a lot of time working alone - many of us from home. And if you head into a co-working space for the day, it's pot luck who the people are around you, what they do and whether they're interested in the same things as you.
And sometimes this is good - you never know where conversations will take you!
But to find a group of people that share your values, who care about people and planet in business, that you can spend the whole day with - not as easy...
So Optimo | Certified B Corp created the 'e'co-working day. An opportunity to spend the day getting to know other like-minded individuals in a relaxed environment - sharing expertise, seeking advice, collaborating on sustainability and social impact. And you might even get some work done, too!

Welcome to our new Spotlight Series! In this series we'll be introducing you to some Advantaged Thinking Champions – individuals who are advocates for Advantaged Thinking and apply its principles on a daily basis 🤩
First up we have the Advantaged ThinKERS at Aberdeen Foyer, a working group formed by staff volunteers and soon to open to the Foyer staff and participants. The Advantaged ThinKERS are spearheading an initiative to improve the Foyer's practice by extending Advantaged Thinking beyond its housing services and across the organisation as a whole.
The group has developed a theory of change to help spotlight organisational strengths and inspire staff to build on Advantaged Thinking approaches in their practice. By reflecting on existing Advantaged Thinking practices and fostering cross-team sharing, the Advantaged ThinKERS facilitate a seamless integration of new ideas whilst pinpointing areas that require additional work. Motivated by a commitment to make the learning experience as enjoyable as possible, the team at Aberdeen Foyer employs an innovative and strategic approach to encourage continuous reflection among staff.
Here at the Foyer Federation, we think that the Advantaged ThinKERS are great role models for other staff thinking about embedding Advantaged Thinking in their organisation! If you're interested in finding out more about Aberdeen Foyer's Advantaged Thinking journey so far, you can do so in this blog post from August: https://lnkd.in/eRH2vJ7n.
