Doing everything single-handed? Hang in there! Here’s what’s helped me: 1. Paying People Ahead of Me
     Investing in guidance for insights, clarity and “shortcuts”. For example, last year I paid a 22-year-old $250 for an hour call (!) But I got clear and confident. The literal next day I stopped uhming and ahing and signed a £1,200/month deal. That was huge for me at the time.
 2. Joining a Cohort
     Learn from leaders and connect with others on the path.   Share battle-stories, test ideas, open doors for each other. It might cost multiple thousands- but you’ll land bigger deals, faster following a proven blueprint. 
 3. DMing People Two Steps Ahead
     Even 1 or 2 calls with people who’ve already achieved your near-term goals is energising. You’ll see they had (or even have)  the same doubts and problems - but they pushed through anyway. P.S: What’s your best tip for someone juggling a solo business?

I spend a lot of time wondering if the way I approach business is absolutely bonkers. And then I get emails like this from the wonderful Tom Tapper from Nice and Serious... "During our B Corp Month panel event last month, four B Corp leaders from Lucky Saint, Back Market, Brompton Bicycle and Pip and Nut recounted moments where they had found themselves at a crossroads. Each business had decided to pave a way forward, often going against the grain of their industry. "What I found most interesting is that when asked to explain why they had made purposeful decisions, they didn’t mention a SWOT analysis, but just a deeper sense that it was simply the right thing to do - an invisible moral compass guiding them all forward. "Judged by the cold eye of capitalism, these decisions didn’t make much sense. But what I saw was four thriving businesses, who believe in something bigger than profit. Four businesses who had said no to a quick buck, but yes to a deeper definition of success." I genuinely got goosebumps when I read this. And then immediately emailed Tom to ask if I can share it, because I think it's so important that we talk about how many of us want to do business differently. It's easy to feel like you're the only one, and if that's you, this is your reminder you're not alone... that there are thousands of businesses who do indeed have that internal moral compass, and listen to it... despite feeling horribly judged by the cold eye of capitalism (one of my fave phrases ever I think!) I asked one of my clients to reflect on the success of his business. His answer was so interesting 💡 First, a bit of context. I’m writing the company’s brand story, and spent some time interviewing one of the founders this morning. He told me that his company is successful against all the odds. He started it with an old colleague in April 2020, with no funding and no assets. Within just a few months, they had their first office. Statistically speaking, he was more likely to win the lottery than make this business work. Yet within 4 years, they were turning over six figures. When I asked him what the secret to his success was, he told me it was a heady combo of unwavering confidence and honest reflection on their limitations. What does that mean? 1. Their vision and drive is rock solid 2. They’re agile and they take risks whenever they need to 3. Everyone wants to work with them because they’re known to treat their staff so well, so they’re able handpick their team from across the industry 4. They invest in experts to help make their business successful. Their approach isn’t rocket science, yet so many businesses fail because they’re not following the same simple principles 🧐
