Reflecting on the incredible weekend I had at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre for an amazing conference, my heart overflows with gratitude. ❤️ Being asked to be one of the speakers at such a prestigious event was not only a privilege but also a humbling experience. Sharing my knowledge, insights, and the journey that led me to this point was surreal. But beyond the podium and the business talks, what truly resonates with me is the profound connection forged with each soul that attended. In a room filled with like-minded humans, each with their unique dreams and aspirations, there was an undeniable energy of possibility and collaboration. As I stood there, surrounded by eager faces, I couldn't help but feel a sense of responsibility to impart not just business wisdom but also words of encouragement and empowerment. For me, success isn't just about achieving business milestones; it's about the relationships cultivated along the way. It's about the conversations had, the dreams shared, and the mutual support exchanged. Through partnership and collaboration, we have the power to lift each other up, to inspire and be inspired, to dream bigger and reach further: To Shine our Divine Light on each other. As I return home from this enriching experience, my heart is full of gratitude for the connections made, the knowledge shared, and the collective journey we're all on. "I know James Groves" Someone (who I didn't know) said this to me last week. They were convinced, I pushed them on it a little and nope they were still convinced they knew me, knew I was MD of Indigo Swan, know about some recent successes such as being named a finalist for SME Director of the Year at the Institute of Directors (IoD) Awards and a few other bits. I was like "what a great guy", they were like "yeah the best". I then politely pointed out that I was indeed James Groves. There was a brief silence, a little awkwardness and then a lot of laughter. So why did this person think they knew James Groves? Well after speaking it became apparent that this person had engaged with my content here and had followed for sometime, I was known within their business in a positive way and that based on this they had a sense of knowing me. Whilst giving this some thought over the last few days, it has made me feel grateful that people have taken the time to read my content, that people in other businesses view me in a positive light and that social media can be something that can truly help to build your brand, your business brand and allow you to find what all businesses want in the right way and that is growth. From finances, reputation, staff and your offering, growth is key to surviving in this current landscape that we live. As MD of our wonderful business I take great pride in putting myself out there. People will say, well that's you James, that's your character and to a point that's true, but it also takes effort, commitment and time, all things that take focus and willing. Business Leaders need to be seen, inside your business, outside your business and across the sector you work in. To this point, the part I was most proud of, is that said person above was from the Energy Sector. What don't I post a lot about? Energy!! What was her opinion of me and our business, extremely positive and respectful. Having a view on something, is better than having no view at all. Last month, I had the privilege of attending our annual EO SF Chapter Retreat in the beautiful and serene setting of Russian River, California. It was an unforgettable experience filled with learning, bonding, and personal growth. Here are some reflections: 🍡 It’s such a treat to focus on business as a whole, instead of the specifics of your own business. We have regular team retreats at Wunderdogs, but we mostly use that for deep-dives into daily operations and business strategy. Here, the agenda was built around the interests of business owners which offered the rare opportunity to really step back, reflect, and take a birds-eye view. 🦋 The focus on personal growth was so inspiring! Jerry Colonna's sessions were particularly impactful, emphasizing the importance of staying connected to ourselves, our roots, and our community. We explored many personal topics such as balancing family life with a never-ending and forever-growing to-do list. The discussions were deep and meaningful. I loved them!  💬 Business networking is powerful when done right. Meeting prequalified, trusted professionals was a highlight of the retreat for me. From potential clients to service providers, the high level of trust at the event made it easy to forge meaningful connections. 💕 New friendships blossom when you go deep. The retreat fostered poignant and deep conversations that, I’m convinced, will form connections beyond business. Having the time and space to reflect on what truly matters made me feel so close to those who surrounded me. We shared our vulnerabilities, discussed our experiences, and talked through our differences. Sharing our vulnerabilities and experiences in such an intimate setting strengthened our bonds beyond business. Overall, this retreat was such a powerful reminder of the importance of community and connection. I am deeply grateful for the insights gained, the relationships strengthened, and the new friendships formed.
