🌱🔍 Curious minds at work! The second graders at Christ the King Catholic School are on a mission to answer the question: Do seeds require sunlight to sprout? 🌞🌿 Each week, they're documenting their progress with video updates. Half of the seeds are basking in the sunlight by the window, while the other half are tucked away in the cupboard, surrounded by darkness. One of Charlotte Mason’s most important principles is what she named “The Great Recognition.” Ambleside schools hold to the revolutionary idea that God is not only the foundation of all knowledge, but that the Holy Spirit is the principal educator in every subject. The ramifications of such an idea are far reaching: "Supposing we are willing to make this great recognition, to engage ourselves to accept and invite the daily, hourly, incessant cooperation of the divine Spirit, in, to put it definitely and plainly, the schoolroom work of our children, how must we shape our own conduct to make this cooperation active, or even possible? We are told that the Spirit is life; therefore, that which is dead, dry as dust, mere bare bones, can have no affinity with Him, can do no other than smother and deaden his vitalizing influences. A first condition of this vitalizing teaching is that all the thought we offer to our children shall be living thought; no mere dry summaries of facts will do; given the vitalizing idea, children will readily hang the mere facts upon the idea as upon a peg capable of sustaining all that it is needful to retain. We begin by believing in the children as spiritual beings of unmeasured powers — intellectual, moral, spiritual — capable of receiving and constantly enjoying intuitions from the intimate converse of the Divine Spirit." - Charlotte Mason, Parents and Children, 273-274. #AmblesideSchools #CharlotteMason #LivingEducation #RenewEducation #StartLiving

As parents, we all want the best for our children. But what happens when our child is struggling academically? John's story is a perfect example of how a change in environment can make all the difference. After failing miserably in a private and government school, his parents decided to take a chance and enroll him in a Christian school. To their amazement, John not only passed but excelled in his studies. His improved grades were a direct result of the school's emphasis on discipline and the fear of God. A few Semesters Earlier John was a very dull boy. His peers called him "Father of Fools". When he was in a Private school he got the following results: *Maths = 2%* *English = 5%* *Science = 0%* *Social Sciences = 1%* *He was taken to a government school and got the following results:* *Maths = 0%* *English = 1%* *Science = 0%* *Social Sciences = 0%* *His parents were very disappointed but still decided to put him in a Christian school even though they were not Christians.* *The First term John passed and was the first in the class.* *Maths = 90%* *English = 93%* *Science = 95%* *Social Sciences = 89 %* *His parents could not believe it. They asked him how he managed to pass and he said;* John replied "When I saw a man nailed on the cross at every corner of the school building, I knew that these teachers don't joke with students here, they will nail me too if I fail". 😂😂😂 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom As we celebrate Easter, let's remember that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. And just like John, our children can achieve academic success if they are in the right environment. As parents, it's our responsibility to ensure that our children are in a safe and nurturing environment where they can thrive. Let's make this Easter a time of reflection and a time to make positive changes in our children's lives. 🙏🙏🙏 Happy Easter holiday in advance. https://lnkd.in/gdmmdt6D #BecauseofHim #Churchofjesuschrist #Easter #BYUPathwayConnectWorldWide #BLOOM

https://lnkd.in/gbd37au2 What does it mean when a college does a holistic review of applications? It means they are considering the WHOLE person, not just select parts like GPA or test scores. Colleges are looking at various factors, including talents, skills, and involvement in all kinds of areas - and this can include in CHURCH activities! Don't say you're "too busy" for Church because you're doing stuff for college. You can do Church stuff for college! And it will be good for your spiritual life, too - a win-win!

I read of a guy who passed away the day after he graduated from college. My first thought was, “What a waste of money, his family could have used the money spent on his education. Now, he is dead and whatever he learned went with him. It’s sort of strange, if you think back to when you were a kid, what appeared to you to be the best part about being an adult? No more school. Because that is the example that adults set that education stops. That adulthood is like one long summer break. That once you cross that stage and receive your diploma, your real life can begin. But then you realized just how real life could get as an adult. You are met with obstacles you could not overcome. You faced things you did not understand. You experienced grief and misfortune that overwhelmed you. Your relationships were not what you had hoped they would be. It is like you missed a turn on your way to the top. Nevertheless, the word “wisdom” occurs 229 times in the Bible. While it may not be the first place you think of when seeking guidance on education, the bible is overflowing with insightful verses that offer valuable lessons on learning, intelligence, and personal growth. Since the Bible is completely sufficient for equipping us to live a life of godliness, this must also include matters of education. We must take a high view of education because God does. God knows all things and has created an elaborate system of laws governing physics, biology, and mathematics. We glorify Him by investing in a solid education. Two verses that expound on this is Proverbs 1:7, “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction” and Ecclesiastes 7:12 which says, “For the protection of wisdom is like the protection of money, and the advantage of knowledge is that wisdom preserves the life of him who has it.” In short, Theodore Roosevelt said it best, “A thorough knowledge of the Bible is worth more than a college education.”
