It's a bit of a cliche but I think a core belief I've come to adopt is this: unless you really actually enjoy doing something, you won't want to do it long enough for results to start showing up. Y Combinator co-founder Paul Graham has a great essay about how it's common to "want to want something" but difficult to actually change what you actually want. His advice in the essay is therefore to align your life with things that you actually want to do. Simple, but not always easy. How have you navigated this conversation of finding where your work meets your natural inclinations? Always curious to hear how others are solving this for themselves!

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗠𝗮𝗸𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗧𝗼𝗽 𝟭𝟬% 𝗼𝗳 𝗙𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗗𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁? Y Combinator former CEO and Group Partner Michael Seibel shares his point of view 👇 1️⃣ 𝗚𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁 𝗙𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗘𝘅𝗲𝗰𝘂𝘁𝗲 "When great founders say they'll do something, two weeks later, it’s done, and they’ve learned from it. They do this consistently" 2️⃣ 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗶𝗱𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 "Working with someone who consistently gets things done is intimidating in a good way. They demand respect because they get things done. Their ability to execute creates formidability" 3️⃣ 𝗖𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 "The best founders can explain their business in one or two sentences to anyone without stumbling" 4️⃣ 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗠𝗼𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 "Successful founders stay motivated despite setbacks. They remain passionate about solving problems, even when faced with repeated failures, maintaining their drive and focus" 'Idea' is not on this list. Judging a very early-stage idea’s potential is hard, so execution, formidability, communication, and motivation matter more 👇

The biggest advantage you have in business? Not knowing what the hell you’re doing 🔥. Too often, we hesitate when faced with the unknown, fearing mistakes or judgment. But Sara Blakely, founder of Spanx, reminds us that not knowing can be an incredible advantage. When you approach challenges without preconceived notions or industry norms (what I like to call Rookie Smarts) holding you back, you’re free to innovate, adapt, and do things differently—sometimes better. So, here’s your nudge: Embrace what you don’t know. Lean into curiosity. Ask questions. Try the thing others are too scared to attempt. Because what makes you feel out of place might just be what sets you apart. 🚀 What’s one time the unknown worked in your favor? Let’s inspire each other below.👇 #TechnoGals #EmbraceTheUnknown

Here's the scoop: In my line of work, I've noticed a recurring interesting pattern. Clients flock to me seeking a technical fix for their current rut. They're convinced that a new tool or strategy holds the key to their salvation. But here's the kicker: the solution isn't found in the latest gadget or algorithm—it's found within. You see, more often than not, the real game-changer lies in a profound shift of mindset and emotions. It's about redefining one's identity, raising the bar on personal standards, and taking decisive action. It's about rewiring the very fabric of how we perceive ourselves and our capabilities. And here's the kicker: these shifts? They're not just possible; they're potent and, dare I say, swift. So, let's flip the script. Let's shift our focus from seeking external fixes to cultivating internal transformations. Because when we align our thoughts, emotions, and actions with our true potential, the results are nothing short of miraculous. #ReflectiveInsight #MindsetShift #EmotionalIntelligence #BehavioralChange #PersonalTransformation #Identity #Standards #Action #Empowerment #GrowthMindset #SelfDiscovery #LeadershipDevelopment #LifeCoaching #ProfessionalGrowth #LinkedInReflections #UnlockPotential #OwnYourJourney VC: Copyright to the respective video owner

While "insights" come from our intuition, unique experiences and internal reflection, "outsights" come from external understanding and the dynamics of influence in various fields. Both are necessary and codependent. However, in a world of so many insights, we sometimes forget to perceive the world through more diverse and empathetic lenses. With this in mind, we’re launching OUTSIGHT – a collection of analysis on cultural changes. Using PRESENCE’s team’s diverse backgrounds, we’ll present different views, thoughts and connections on topics that inspire us.

My daughter: "Dadda, let's grab some pillows and a blanket and put them on our trampoline outside." Me (exhausted after a busy day): "Why would we do that when we can just lie in one of our beds?" My daughter: "Because it’ll be fun—and we’ve never done it before!" Me (reluctantly): "Okay fine, I suppose we can give it a try." My daughter: "This is so cool—look how beautiful the trees and clouds look from here!" Me: "You're right, sweetie. Thank you for suggesting we do this." That experience reminded me of something important in business: How often do we dismiss new ideas, thinking they’re impractical or "too different," when they might just be the breakthrough we need? Moral of the story: Stay open. Experiment. Sometimes the best solutions come from trying things you’ve never done before. What’s one “crazy” idea you’ve tried recently?
