Responding to the urgent need to accelerate the pathway to net zero across #Europe requires partnerships and localized decarbonization pathways tailored to each country’s needs. One shared pathway is the need to integrate clean hydrogen in the energy transition to deliver secure, #affordable and #sustainable power systems. https://lnkd.in/e6RRhDua
Achieving a successful energy transition means decarbonizing existing and new infrastructure, ensuring a reliable and secure grid, and creating a hydrogen ecosystem. But we can’t do it alone. Reaching decarbonization goals by 2050 requires unprecedented collaboration across industries, sectors, and governments to develop and scale solutions that bring us closer to net-zero. The most innovative ideas come from working together, and we’re proud to be working with a number of partners to advance the energy transition. "Net Zero almost places us on a war footing" It's Earth Day today so I though it apt to share a video that I saw at Energi Coast's event in Teesside last week. The human and financial costs of not accelerating progress to Net Zero are unimaginable. Conversely, the economic opportunities in green industries are vast. https://lnkd.in/eWcsrBnj #earthday #teesworks #offshorewind

Interesting viewpoint, but I do wonder whether the CIS has a potential bias against the AEMO ISP for political reasons, given the Liberal party's incredible infatuation with nuclear and the subject matter here being a 365-kilometer, 500 kV transmission line that will connect Wagga Wagga, Bannaby, and Maragle in New South Wales (NSW), with the goal of increasing the amount of renewable energy that can be delivered to consumers. ''Although there are no explicit ties between the CIS and the centre-right Liberal Party, the CIS is politically aligned with the Liberal Party, praising Liberal Party founder Robert Menzies, hosting various Liberal Party politicians and holding very critical views of the Labor Party.'' -Wikipedia. Remembering too, that the projected cost increase of the Humelink project onto bills is just $21pa, which will likely be reduced or wiped out altogether by the savings brought by the wind and solar power it will deliver to homes, providing the promised 'cheaper renewables system' (as happens in Victoria).
The end result of an interested amateur 'reading the footnotes' is this epic exposure of AEMO's circular logic pushing higher costs onto consumers. There is no 'cheaper renewables system' - that's a myth, and it's about time the agencies responsible were held accountable. https://lnkd.in/gVKW3USz

What does it mean to have a sustainable energy transition? It was a pleasure to dig into this topic with Michele Harradence of Enbridge and Brent Jackson of Grant Thornton at the Electricity Distributors Association’s ENERCOM 2024 conference. We need a greener, smarter and bigger grid to support our climate goals, electrification and economic growth. At Fortis Inc. we believe innovation and collaboration are critical. Policy and regulation should support more integrated planning between energy systems, more regional interconnections and more demand side management programs. Let's be ambitious but pragmatic. A sustainable energy transition will be successful only if we can bring everyone along.
