At MRO Australasia this year, I had the great pleasure of speaking and moderating a panel on learnings from airline start-ups and Australasia’s technological advancements in the MRO sector.   A broad mix of attendees from MROs, suppliers, airlines, Defence, regulator and academia attended the conference in Brisbane. One thing is clear - the sector is back: We are expecting 4.7% future CAGR in 2024-2025 (outgrowing global demand) for the APAC in-service commercial aircraft fleet. Asia at large (including India and China) is expected to generate one-third of the MRO demand – equivalent to $470bn in MRO demand. Asia Pacific MRO demand is nearly $240bn with approximately 43,000 MRO events expected to occur during this period. Workforce retention, labour and skills gaps were discussed on almost every panel at the conference. There was broad agreement regarding the importance of raising awareness of different types of careers in the aviation industry, creating flexible options to motivate and retain employees. But also new technologies like drones should excite a more diverse set of people for the MRO sector who might not have landed in aviation otherwise.   Stay tuned for more in-depth insights mid next week.   #Innovation #Aviation #MRO 🛫 Oliver Wyman Asia Pacific
