Spain’s Digital Health Ecosystem: A New Era of Healthcare Transformation I've made good friends and partners worldwide through the World Economic Forum’s Global Shapers Community, including Adam Skali. Since March, Adam and I have been meeting regularly and came up with an idea to gather information on how different countries are modernizing their #healthcare systems. The result - our first report on #Spain, one of the most digitized countries in the Mediterranean, which are their main challenges. Our collaboration is based on a good balance of our interests. I am focused on understanding the life sciences technologies and companies needed for healthcare modernization from an investment perspective, targeting private sector and academia. Adam, on the other hand, is more interested in go to market, policies at the governmental level and how to translate innovation into impact. Share your thoughts on this report, as we plan to release more information about other European countries and other regions soon. Btw thanks to this exercise I’ve learned interesting fact on two small Spanish cities mentioned on the page 9

Spain’s Digital Health Ecosystem: A New Era of Healthcare Transformation Exciting times are ahead as Spain continues to advance in the digital health landscape, in line with broader European Union efforts. This journey is not just about adopting new technologies but also about building a resilient, interoperable, and patient-centric healthcare system. Key Highlights: EU Trends: The European Union is leading the way with initiatives like the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the upcoming European Health Data Space (EHDS) regulation. These frameworks aim to empower citizens, enhance data security, and foster a unified digital health market. Spain’s Healthcare System: Spain boasts a decentralized healthcare system that offers nearly universal coverage. Significant strides in digital health, including electronic health records (EHRs) and interoperable electronic prescriptions, have placed Spain 7th in the EU’s 2022 Digital Economy and Society Index (DESI). Strategic Initiatives: The Spain Digital 2025 and PERTE for Advanced Healthcare projects underscore the government's dedication to advancing digital health, despite the complexities of coordinating across autonomous regions. As we move forward, it's crucial to remember that digital health isn't just about technology. It's about equipping professionals with the skills needed to harness the power of data, ensuring interoperability, and maintaining a focus on patient care. Together, we can build a more connected, efficient, and effective healthcare system. #DigitalHealth #HealthcareInnovation #EHealth #Spain #DigitalTransformation #GDPR #EHDS #Interoperability #HealthTech #Telemedicine
