⭐️How to be a change maker at this moment ⭐️ Change makers excel at adapting their skills, mindset and leadership capabilities to changing conditions. As we are poised to enter a new environment in January, I am reflecting upon what I have learned through my research, reading, and teaching on the drivers of strategic advocacy, including the work of luminaries in this field Gene Sharp and Everett Rogers. Here are five especially relevant learnings: 1. Harness the Power of Incremental Wins Break larger goals into actionable, incremental steps, so that the changes sought feel less daunting and allow for adaptation. Smaller wins build belief, establish credibility, and reduce resistance. They set the stage for larger, more sustainable change. 2. Continue to Prioritize Strategic Framing to Build Broad Appeal According to Rogers' principles of diffusion, successful change must resonate with a broad and diverse audience. Push to bridge political divides by finding common ground on values like freedom, fairness, and safety that may lead towards even more universal messages. 3. Engage Early Adopters to Amplify Impact Rogers wrote that early adopters are crucial in diffusing innovations. In our context, continuing to identify and engage respected figures or groups who are open to change can create even greater ripple effects than we have seen already. 4. Adapt Tactics to the Shifting Power Dynamics Gene Sharp’s work emphasizes the need for adaptable tactics, staying nimble, recognizing shifts, and pivoting strategies. This means being prepared to adjust approaches, using creative, varied, and even unexpected methods. 5. Cultivate Resilience and Prepare for Sustained Effort Change efforts almost always face resistance, particularly when entrenched interests feel threatened. Building resilience — both personally and within the community of catalysts — will help sustain momentum through setbacks. Sharp’s work underscores the importance of sustained, disciplined effort, and taking a long-term view to succeed. I will continue to hope for, and use my change maker skills and mindset, to create a better future even in the face of what today feel like enormous obstacles. Which tactics resonate most for you? What others would you recommend? #changemakers #innovation #strategy

But what happens when we pause and ask the right question? Here's why embracing the question mark can be more powerful than chasing the exclamation point: 🔍 **Curiosity Drives Innovation** Every groundbreaking idea begins with a curious question. - *What if we could see beyond the horizon?* asked the first explorers. - *What if our voices could reach across continents?* pondered the pioneers of telecommunication. Questions build bridges to unexplored visions and uncharted territories. 🧩 **Questions Foster Engagement** Authentic dialogue emerges from genuine inquiry. In leadership, asking *How can we improve?* creates an atmosphere of collaboration and openness. It invites diverse perspectives and ignites team energy. - Encourages creativity - Builds trust - Fosters a growth mindset 🤝 **The Humility in Not Knowing** Admitting we don't have all the answers is a strength, not a weakness. It reflects confidence and an openness to learning. In 2023, let's champion leaders who are not afraid to ask: - *What might I be missing?* - *How can I learn from you?* 🎨 **Reimagining Reality** When we frame our goals as questions, we're not confined by present limitations. Instead, we're propelled into a future crafted by possibility: - *What if we could reduce our carbon footprint by 50%?* - *What if work was a source of joy for everyone involved?* Transform ‘if only’ into ‘what if.’ Are we ready to champion the power of questions in our workplaces and beyond? 🌐 Let's start a movement where we celebrate the humility of inquiry over the bravado of certainty. Share in the comments a transformative question that has reshaped your journey. Let's inspire, learn, and grow together. Remember, the future belongs to the curious. Embrace the question mark, and let's change our destinies one ‘what if’ at a time. #CuriosityDriven #Innovation #Leadership #GrowthMindset #FutureOfWork

Want better results? Interrogate reality and embrace multiple truths. In today’s complex world, embracing the concept of multiple truths is more important than ever. Here’s what it means to interrogate reality in our daily interactions and decision-making processes: Recognize Multiple Perspectives: Understand that different life experiences shape distinct viewpoints. There’s rarely one absolute truth but various different and unique experiences that contribute to varied perceptions. Acknowledge Various Paths: Accept that there are multiple ways to achieve objectives. Flexibility and creativity in approach can often lead to better, and more inclusive outcomes. Openness to Ideas: Create an environment where ideas are freely shared and considered. Being truly open means challenging our own biases and welcoming new concepts with curiosity rather than resistance. Seek Shared Understanding: Strive for a common ground where different truths coexist, enhancing our approach to problem-solving and innovation. By interrogating reality, we cultivate a richer, more nuanced understanding of the world, which in turn drives smarter, more empathetic decision-making. How are you interrogating reality at work or in personal relashinships? What would you add? #Leadership #Innovation #DiversityInThought #BusinessStrategy

Have you ever challenged an assumption or presented a different viewpoint, only to see someone's mind shift and their "thinking wheels" start turning? That's the power of questioning the status quo. It's not about being argumentative, but about fostering critical thinking and exploring new possibilities. It's the engine that drives innovation and progress in the society This ability to question is crucial. It's how we move beyond the "because that's how it's always been done" mentality. It's how we tackle complex challenges and create a brighter future The good news? You have this power too! 💫 The next time you encounter an established norm, ask "why?" Explore alternative solutions. Spark conversations that make others think. You might just be the catalyst for positive change. You, as the future leaders and innovators, have the power to make a real difference! #inspiration #creativity #innovation #changemaker #futureleaders #growthmindset #learnsomethingnew #thinkoutsidethebox #makeadifference

A very good note about working together, and the many benefits from cooperation. “Accept that there are multiple ways to achieve objectives. Flexibility and creativity in approach can often lead to better, and more inclusive outcomes.” It has been said, “There’s more than one way to skin a cat.” This true, but is a foul, heinous way of communicating that there’s more than one way to do something. If there weren’t other ways, we’d never experience advancement, development or growth. When I was a member of a national Angel Capital group, my favorite part was listening to the fellow investors ask questions of the presenters (sponsors). Each of their unique experiences drove their unique questions. I learned more from their questions and comments than in a decade of perfecting one industry. We were designed for community, and we thrive in working together. 💥 Note: I looked up the origin of this phrase, which goes back to the 1600’s. It changed animals over the years, and has since been accepted as the poor kitten. However, more recent research suggests that “cat” actually refers to Southerners saying “cat” for “catfish.” Since people scale fish all the time, this would make the saying more palatable. 😉

Here’s how to balance learning from the past while staying future-focused: 🔍 Acknowledge the Myth - Beware of Stagnation: Past triumphs can sometimes lead to overconfidence, creating resistance to necessary change and innovation. 💡 Harness the Value - Extract Lessons: Dive into the principles that drove success—innovation, customer-centricity, or operational excellence—and apply them to current challenges. - Build on Strengths: Use established assets like brand equity and customer trust as steppingstones, not anchors, for future growth. 🚀 Blend Innovation with Legacy - Evolve Core Strengths: Turn historical competencies into platforms for modern innovation. - Embrace Experimentation: Create space for bold, new ideas that challenge traditional models and open fresh opportunities. 🌱 Foster a Learning Culture - Encourage Agility: Inspire teams to adapt quickly and view change as an opportunity. - Feedback Loops: Transform both successes and failures into actionable insights. 🔮 Stay Future-Oriented - Balance the Portfolio: Focus on sustaining existing operations while allocating resources for forward-thinking initiatives. - Track Trends: Stay ahead by monitoring shifts in technology, consumer behavior, and markets. 🔗 Conclusion: The past is a treasure trove of insights, but its value lies in how it is leveraged, not revered. All beliefs are borrowed. Most of us adopt other people’s fears and limiting beliefs without even realizing it. We let someone else’s story - someone else’s mindset - define how we show up, how we lead, and how much we achieve. Here’s a truth I shared with a client recently: “Don’t adopt a belief unless it sets you up for success.” She had just landed her dream job, but she was walking on eggshells because of the stories she’d heard: “Don’t upset him. Don’t ask questions. His world is black and white.” And those fears? They weren’t hers. But suddenly, they were shaping her reality. Fearless leadership is about reclaiming your power. It’s about showing up to serve, not pulling back to protect yourself. Because when you focus on serving others, fear disappears. ——- FYI: If you want to make 2025 the year you reclaim your mindset, your results, and your leadership, a great place to start is my Leadership by Design Blueprint a free workshop happening this week. You’ll learn a simple, proven 9-step process to becoming the trusted advisor who thinks differently and who fearlessly ask bold questions in a way that pull people to you. If we only ever follow best practices, we will only achieve what others have already achieved. I’ve been telling my teams this for years, but breaking the "best practices" mindset remains one of the toughest challenges. We hear it all the time: • “This is how it’s done.” • “We’ve always done it this way.” • “We tried that before, and it didn’t work.” But I firmly believe this: You can break any ‘rule’ in business as long as you know why you’re breaking it and understand the potential impact. And sometimes, the impact may be a poor outcome—that’s OK. The important part is understanding the scale of that risk and believing in the possibility of an upside. The key is to chase a dream, not just a goal. Goals keep you one step ahead of the competition, but dreams open entirely new paths—ones that align with your vision and truly set you apart. So, how do we cultivate this kind of dream-focused mindset within our teams? How do we get them to look beyond hitting targets and focus on achieving something revolutionary? Here’s what I believe it takes: 1. Foster a culture of curiosity and experimentation. 2. Reward smart risks, even if they don’t always succeed. 3. Challenge conventional thinking by asking “What if?” more often. Real breakthroughs happen when we stop focusing on incremental gains and start chasing a vision that aligns with our dreams—not just the next goal on a checklist. What strategies are you using to inspire bold, visionary thinking in your teams? #Innovation #Leadership #DreamBig #ThinkDifferent #BreakingTheMold #BusinessTransformation #ChaseTheDream #VisionaryLeadership #LeadershipDevelopment #TeamSuccess

Don’t Let Small Minds Limit Big Ideas 💯💯💯 You’ve probably heard the saying, “You’re the average of the five people you spend the most time with.” And it’s true—if you surround yourself with people who settle for just okay, that mindset can easily rub off on you. People who stick to “good enough” usually aren’t the ones pushing for innovation or big ideas. They might say things like, “That’s too risky,” or “This is how it’s always been done.” But ask yourself—are they where you want to be? Or are they just coasting? Here’s an example: You come up with an exciting new idea at work, and someone shoots it down with, “Let’s just stick to what we know works.” If you take their advice, that idea dies before it even has a chance. The key? Surround yourself with people who think bigger and push you to do the same. Their advice is coming from ambition, not mediocrity. Don’t let mediocre opinions limit what you can achieve. Shoot for more. #Leadership #Excellence #GrowthMindset #CareerSuccess #Innovation
