Mainframe Performance & Modernization

Simplify Mainframe DevOps pipelines using IBM Dependency Based Build (DBB) v3.0.0 and zBuilder ⚙️ IBM just released DBB v3.0.0, enhancing its powerful capabilities for building and maintaining z/OS applications. With this release, IBM introduces the zBuilder, a YAML configuration-based tool that streamlines and modernizes the build process for traditional mainframe applications. Here's what makes it stand out: - zBuilder: This tool reduces the adoption time and complexity by offering configuration-driven builds instead of custom scripted builds. It supports various lifecycle builds—like full builds and impact builds—out of the box, making it an ideal solution for teams looking to improve efficiency and reduce TCO. - zAppBuild Compatibility: zBuilder isn’t replacing zAppBuild but serves as an alternative. Both frameworks are supported, allowing teams to choose what fits best. - Java 17 Support & Git for z/OS: Standardization is key with support for Java 17 and IBM's Git for z/OS, integrated within the Open Enterprise Foundation (OEF). DBB v3.0 works seamlessly with both Rocket Git and the new OEF Git. - Smooth Upgrade Path: IBM has ensured that moving from DBB v2 to v3 is smooth, with no breaking changes or schema updates, keeping upgrades efficient. This release is a major step for DevOps in z/OS environments, helping teams modernize, reduce costs, and make the most of their mainframe assets. Can't wait to see how it enhances DevOps workflows! #MainframeModernization #DevOps #zOS #DBB #zBuilder #ContinuousIntegration #SoftwareEngineering
