Europe is under intense pressure to boost its competitiveness - a topic we explored at the #HamburgScienceSummit (below). 💡The European Commission is reportedly considering a proposal to bundle the EU’s various research funding programmes into a single “competitveness super-fund” that could exceed a trillion euros. Details of the EC’s budget office proposal are outlined in this piece from Science|Business:
https://lnkd.in/dsWKjged.
As noted in the report, the proposal is likely to get watered down if and when it’s put forth. Nonetheless, it’s an indication that the EU is taking the dire warnings of the Draghi and Letta reports seriously.
“It’s time for some really bold decisions”…
…says Tino Krause, Meta Platforms’ Director Central Europe, at the #HamburgScienceSummit. When it comes to science and innovation, Europe should start playing to win instead of playing not to lose.
Watch Tino's exciting discussion with
Uwe Cantner (Chairman German EFI Commission),
Maria Cristina Russo (Director at the European Commission),
and the fabulous Terry Martin (Deutsche Welle).

✈️ Mid-flight Reflections: The Sunrise of Education Innovation 🌅
Flying home from the ACTE Vision Conference, I woke up mid-flight to a breathtaking sunrise. It struck me as the perfect representation of the conference itself—full of new light, hope, and inspiration.
This week, I gained powerful insights, connected with amazing educators, and finally met several of Alli Dahl and my Disrupt Education Podcast guests in person for the first time. Conversations with people like Kevin J Fleming, Ph.D., Kenneth Midgett and Cindy Midgett MEd, RDH, CDA, PHDHP, Jason Van Nus, Kristy Volesky, Mark C. Perna, Brooke Rice (Ed.D), Justin DeBolt, Joe Sieczkowski and so many others were incredible.
Add in the transformative learning from various sessions, and it was nothing short of amazing.
Some argue that education is stagnant, slow to change, and lacking innovation.
I can confidently say they’re wrong. In San Antonio, thousands of passionate, forward-thinking educators gathered, driving real progress in building CTE programs and skill development for their communities.
This was not just another conference—it was a movement. A movement of educators reshaping systems and preparing students for their futures in meaningful ways.
Here’s to taking what we learned and turning it into action, inside and outside the classroom! 🙌
Let’s keep the momentum going—how are YOU innovating in education?

Better Air Quality for Children - Results from Fybra's Pilot with Schools in Hamburg 🏫
Fybra's pilot project has been a big success. The Italian company installed their air quality monitoring devices in 7 schools in Hamburg. The results were very positive! Based on this successful pilot, the schools plan to integrate Fybra 's system across its network to access real-time air quality data. 📈
Additional classrooms will also install Fybra devices. Some teachers are even interested in incorporating real-time data into interactive lessons for a more data-driven education approach. 🔬 Overall, teachers reported the air feeling fresher, providing a better breathing and learning environment. 😄
During the pilot timeframe, Fybra's system reduced CO2 levels in classrooms by 10.42% on average through optimized window ventilation routines. In some rooms, CO2 was reduced by up to 23.58%. 📉
In June 2023, Fybra joined the Scaleup Landing Pad programme's cohort in Hamburg. 🚀 Our hands-on matchmaking helped Fybra quickly establish local connections and enabled a pilot project to install their system in schools to improve air quality. 🍃
