"Those who drink the water must remember those who dug the well.” Dan Houston quoted this Chinese proverb in his remarks at our annual Principal retiree holiday luncheon today and it really hit home with me. This is the first time I’ve attended this event as a special not-yet-retired guest, and it was humbling. As I looked around the headquarters atrium, I realized I was looking at literally thousands of years of collective history of Principal Financial Group – which is amazing! Thank you to all the retirees who attended and all the retirees around the globe. Principal would simply not be the company we are today without you.
