*personal news* I’m switching beats to cover healthcare at Forbes. Though I’ve been covering industrial innovation and climate tech most recently, I’ve written more than a dozen healthcare-related daily cover stories for Forbes over the years, including profiles of Flagship Pioneering’s Noubar Afeyan and Viz.ai, and pieces on supply chain snags for critical hospital supplies and racial disparities in pulse oximeters. Grateful to editors John Paczkowski and Katharine Schwab for their support, and excited to dig in! Send tips (and dark chocolate) my way: [email protected], Signal amyfeldman.33
Please consider covering "Far UVC" -- a new healthcare technology invented at Columbia University -- as it may very well be our only line of defense for future pandemics (vaccines are slow to make and a new vaccine is required for every new pathogen unlike Far UVC which kills any and all pathogens). Far UVC is not the same as "traditional" UVC disinfection. Here is a piece on Far UVC as it relates to the Bird flu, which may well evolve into the next pandemic in the near future. Far UVC could be installed in hospitals protecting healthcare workers and keeping hospitals (and society) from collapsing should another pandemic like Covid-19 arrive. https://www.vox.com/future-perfect/353434/uv-light-is-a-virus-killing-wonder-can-it-stop-bird-flu
Congrats! FWIW I had an industrial story I was thinking about sharing with you. Do you know who will be covering industry going forward?
Hope to see you at the Forbes HealthTech conference in NYC!
Amy Feldman sorry to see you depart mfg and industrials! But healthcare needs you too! Don’t forget us - maybe combine the two every so often 😉
This is awesome. 👑
Congrats Amy Feldman, a beat change is always fun and re-invigorating. :)
Congratulations Amy. We have lots of UK health data and insights that I think you may be interested in. Will you cover UK stories?
Wonderful news and so. Important. Healthcare is at a critical juncture.
Great time to take on the healthcare beat, Amy. It's going to be a very newsy year for the sector.
