Today would have been my Father's 69th Birthday. I think of all of the influences I have had in my personal life and business life... He has had the most impact. I was thinking about the lessons he taught me about trust and doing deals. You see he was the "We do a deal on a handshake guy". There are times where he got burned... and there are times where he won. His favorite stories were about the wins... occasionally he would complain about the losses. There are times where I am sitting in the middle of a deal questioning "Can this deal be done on a handshake". If I dont think it can it makes me pause a moment and ask "Why am I here". In a perfect world, everyone would live up to their responsibilities and do what they promised. What I thought would be a cool thing to do is ask you... What is a red flag you see in business that makes you question a deal big or small? The reason I ask is this may be an awesome thread with really cool insights. Ill go first... with a few Me: Someone who cheats at Golf or someone who treats servers poorly.
