In the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, the devastation in the southeastern US has been especially challenging for our Consolidated Metco team in Canton, North Carolina. Their community has faced severe power outages, water shortages, and widespread damage, leaving many in need of urgent support.
ConMet rallied together to raise $160,850 through a GoFundMe campaign to help employees and their families as they work through these incredibly difficult times.
Inspired by the resilience of our Canton employees and the outpouring of support from across our organization, Amsted Industries donated an additional amount to bring the total to $200,000, which we had the honor of presenting to the ConMet Canton team during their victory at our recent company-wide cornhole tournament.
Together, we stand united in helping our colleagues rebuild and recover.
You've all been following Hurricane Helene and the effect it had on the whole Asheville Canton area really very profound. I mean, what the people at Canton did during the last couple of weeks to take care of their people, to take care of other people in the community. There was a go Fund me raised over $160,000 from Amstead employees across the country for for that and. I'm pleased to announce today that Amsted Industries is going to top that off at 200,000 so that you guys can go home and really continue to make a difference in your community and help them heal. So thank you for all you've done. So you know, the winner Sir, were the Canton team, but the winners were all of them said. Because this just shows our spirit that you all carry every day and all our people do. And we have fun doing it and we're fighters and we're competitive and we play hard. We treat people with dignity and respect, but. You know, we're tough, too.
The Canton Team is a great group of individuals. I am so happy, and pleased, to see the support they have been given from the adversity of Hurricane Helene! Thank you Amsted Industries!
The devastation caused by Hurricane Helene in North Carolina is immense. With many people stuck in place due to destruction and without water or electricity, our neighbors across the Carolinas require aid. For those seeking ways to help, we'd like to highlight and vouch for two local organizations accepting donations to support those in great need.
The first is a sightseeing helicopter tour owned by a couple running supply drops from the downtown Greenville airport to the Western NC area. They are currently collecting supplies from Runway Café and donations at https://hubs.li/Q02RS0LN0
If you're local and can bring supplies, the following items are in high demand.
• Batteries
• Flashlights
• Chainsaws
• Bottled Water
• Pre-mixed baby formula
This second is another GoFundMe page from a couple with a bakery in the Black Mountains, raising funds to provide temporary income to the communities stuck in place and resources to support local projects in supplying basic resources. https://hubs.li/Q02RRtmg0
Please consider supporting the people still harm's way as a result of Helene, and keep them in your hearts.

The storm that hit the Western North Carolina area is mindboggling. So many people have suffered unfathomable loss. Homes and vehicles are destroyed, land wiped out, and businesses leveled. The loss of life is heartbreaking.
The resilience and faith of our community is inspiring. Everyone I speak with begins the conversation with immense gratitude followed quickly by compassion and care. These difficult situations remind us that togetherness matters; even between those who are oceans apart in life perspective.
99% of what I have witnessed online has been supportive and loving, and there will always be the 1% who prey on these situations to drive divisiveness.
Modeling non-reaction to the 1% is a practice. And doing so frees up the mental and heart capacity to focus on what and who truly matter.
As the days pass, the media will lose interest in this event. Probably healthy for all as life does move forward. But please remember that it will be months of recovery. Please keep people in your prayers, stay close to friends and family you know in the area, and if you're able, donate time, talent, and treasure to support the recovery.
There are so many ways to help.

In the wake of Hurricane Helene, many of our employees are facing significant challenges across Western North Carolina. Most have lost power, water, and cell service, and others have suffered major damage to their homes. Many are unable to leave their homes due to impassable driveways, roads, and bridges.
To support our affected coworkers, we are launching an Employee Relief Fund. This fund will help meet essential needs such as food, water, shelter repairs, and transportation assistance. Your generous donations, whether large or small, can make a huge difference for our people during this difficult time.
The company is currently reaching out to all employees to assess their safety and needs. Please join us in supporting our team members to ensure everyone can recover as smoothly as possible.
We are grateful for your compassion and support.

I’ve lived in many places, but Western North Carolina will always be my home. Hurricane Helene has caused so much damage across the country, with WNC being left in ruins. There are rural mountain towns that are completely gone. Families are still without power and expected to remain without for two more weeks, my own family included. Roads are destroyed, leaving people stuck and stranded.
If you have the means, please consider donating to help the community rebuild. With the high levels of poverty mixed with geographical isolation, it will take years to undo the damage that this natural disaster has caused.
PRIORITZE LOCAL ORGANIZATIONS - while national relief funds are great, it is the people on the ground in their communities that have the biggest impact. In donating, please consider supporting smaller, local groups like churches, food banks, and other non-profits so they may continue supporting their community in this time of need. We all dislike words such as
Tenant
Unit
Complex
Can we please retire the words ‘supplier’ and ‘vendor’? Our multifamily events (and more) wouldn’t exist without the MILLIONS of dollars our partners put back into our industry.
Walk through your house and do a quick survey of the amazing swag you’ve gotten at events.
Or the experiences you’ve had. Carrie Underwood concert, anyone?
Or the amazing meals you’ve shared at places like Nobu, French Laundry and more.
And on a more serious note:
The dollars they’ve contributed to lobbying efforts that benefit all of us?
The money donated to worthwhile causes such as hurricane relief?
The furniture and housewares donated to help people get back on their feet?
Bye bye vendor, hello partner.
Rapid deployment hurricane resistant structures for disaster management are critical during the rebuilding process when a major hurricane event affects the Caribbean region. We have partnered with aid agencies who will work with your government to facilitate.
This week we are unfortunately focused on disaster recovery for the #Caribbean region as the impacts of hurricane Beryl have left considerable damage to infrastructure.
Our disaster recovery rapid deployment building solutions have been utilized in various islands to provide storage facilities for donations and supplies to rebuild communities. One of our structures was erected in Barbuda within a few weeks of the passing of hurricanes Irma and Maria in 2017.
We work directly with a number of charitable organizations who can defer cost and facilitate the project.
In the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, countless communities have been significantly impacted, and now is the time for us to unite in providing much-needed relief. We are calling upon all condominium associations and residents within our community to join this critical initiative to assist those affected by this catastrophic event.
Here’s How You Can Help:
1. Commit Your Condominium to Participate: Get involved by encouraging your condominium to take part in this important relief effort. Commit by using the link below.
2. Set Up a Drop-Off Location in Your Condo Lobby: Designate a convenient area where residents can easily contribute essential supplies.
3. Send a Mass Communication to Your Residents: Inform everyone in your building about how they can get involved and where to drop off their donations.
4. Deliver Supplies to the Provided Addresses: Once collected, bring the donations to one of the following locations:
• Microhub in Edgewater: 2140 NE 2nd Avenue
• GlobalPro Office: 3139 SW 27th Avenue
By taking these steps, your condo community can play an active role in supporting those affected by Hurricane Helene. If you have any questions or need additional graphics ple
