👋 I'm sharing with you all insights from the #EndGenderBias Survey Results Summary Report, shedding light on crucial aspects of gender bias in healthcare. https://lnkd.in/gvMw4jka Over the last few weeks, I have been seeing more and more articles and studies about women’s health, how women are disproportionately affected by barriers in the current healthcare system and the lack of knowledge we have on how health issues both present themselves and are treated in women. This March the National Women’s Health Advisory Council conducted a survey aiming to understand the experiences of Australian women in navigating the healthcare system. The findings are not just eye-opening but also serve as a call to action for systemic change. Here are some of the key drivers of inequity in healthcare: 👩⚕️ Interpersonal experiences, high rates of being dismissed and disbelieved by healthcare providers 🚺 Structural barriers, affecting the accessibility and affordability of health care. 🔍 The evidence base underpinning health care and medical innovation - research has been conducted on predominantly male groups, and female groups often present and respond to treatments differently. This gap not only perpetuates bias but also hampers advancements in healthcare innovation. 💡Intersectional experiences of gender bias - related to other aspects such as age and rurality bear more of this burden. 🌐 As a result of each layer of gender bias, gender bias in health care has far-reaching impacts on women’s lives. Additionally, the study includes expert stakeholders (medical professionals) who expressed concerns about women's access to safe and choice-driven healthcare, with many perceiving inadequate access and choice for women. So, what's the next step? Let's amplify these findings, spark meaningful discussions, and work together towards a future where gender bias in healthcare is no longer a barrier to women's well-being. Together, we can make a difference! 💪 #HealthEquity #WomenInHealthcare #GenderBias #HealthcareReform

The Inquiry into Women’s Pain survey is now open! 🚺 The recently released Listening to Women's Voices report told us a staggering 40% of women surveyed live with chronic pain that affects their health and wellbeing. To help address the significant challenges faced when seeking care for pain, we're now calling on Victorian girls and women to take part in a 10-minute survey. 👩⚕️We want to ensure the voices of those with lived experience of pain and pain management guide the way we design and deliver new services and support. This survey will provide invaluable insight and contribute to the outcomes of the Inquiry into Women’s Pain. 💡To complete the survey visit: https://bit.ly/3TuBzeO 📑To read the full Listening to Women's Voices report, visit https://lnkd.in/dTyjmdZK #WomensHealth #WomensHealthMatters #GenderPainGap

Although we have much work left to do to transform our data systems, I am proud of the significant step the Office of Management and Budget is taking by revising federal race and ethnicity standards. Our country has benefitted from and progressed because of our diversity, but our data doesn’t reflect that. We cannot get communities the resources they deserve without ensuring everyone is counted and all voices are heard. That is why this moment is so monumental. We have the chance to show society why and how we all benefit from comprehensive data and why data is essential to help everyone thrive. In a recent briefing by Ethnic Media Services, I discuss how this country is in a transformational moment and why changes such as these OMB revisions show how our country is on the right path towards prioritizing diversity and overcoming our history of discrimination. Today i attended the Dutch Women Health Forum in Amsterdam. Did you know that in the Netherlands: 84% of women experience complaints about menstruation? 61% suffer from menstrual pain. Pain costs time and time costs money. Workplaces loose an average of 33% productivity by not addressing women´s health. 30% of women have health problems that keeps them from normal activities. This number is higher than the global and EU average. We have work to do. More research, more information, women need to get tested and have to speak up. Also companies need to take more responsability to help women go through the fases of their lives. It´s not normal to live with pain. There should be a chief health officer in every company. Also we need to work more internationally, exchange info and learn from each other. Conny Helder, minister of health, welfare and sport was there to support us and shared her personal health story. Good example. We need to talk about this more and support each other. #mobielebrigades #zusenzorg Petra Verdonk and all the others who contribute to make a better world for women´s healthcare. 🎉 We’ve just published our latest Client Self-Perception Survey report! We’ve listened to more than 40,966 of our financial service partners’ clients. We worked digitally in nine languages with 34 financial service partners in 15 countries in Africa, Asia, and Latin America and the Caribbean to gather the data. More than three-quarters of respondents this year were women. Our pioneering survey asks clients about significant life-changes over the past 12 months. It covers income, business development, household savings, access to basic facilities, and ability to cover health and medical needs. The findings inform our decision-making and capacity building and mean we and our partners can serve clients even better. 👉 Read our survey report at https://lnkd.in/dq726smr
