Why have so many GE alums been struggling as CEOs lately? As I explain in my latest post, a big reason is that the 21st century is not at all like the 20th. https://lnkd.in/eC3UFrB5

Ever contemplated who the true catalysts of transformation are in our world? Hint: They are not always who you might anticipate! Consider the captivating dynamism of Steve Jobs, a luminary noted for his indomitable mettle, who despite being removed from his own organization, spiritedly rose again to redefine the landscape of technology and our lifestyles. Even in his battle against a life-threatening illness, his innovative spirit remained dauntless. Reflect on the #healthcare gladiators who have reshaped medicine against all odds. Think of Dr. Elizabeth Blackwell, the first woman doctor in the U.S. who faced endless bias but continued steadfastly, carving the path for future female physicians. Empower these warriors. - The ones who've been through life's most challenging hurdles - The souls yearning for a meaningful breakthrough - Immigrants with dreams of a brighter tomorrow - Individuals on a journey of self-evolution These are the individuals who have emerged from adversity more resolved, continually transforming their respective arenas. These are the people who understand the value of everything because they've experienced the void of nothing. Their experiences sharpen them. Their struggles inspire them. But what happens when these warriors, these game-changers, learn to unite, merging their resilience and resolve? How significant a transformation could a team of such individuals bring about in our world today? As a leader, do you think the power lies in the solitary fighter, or does it reside in the humility of a servant leader and the collective strength of a service-oriented team? I invite you to share your thoughts, and share your story, or tag someone who personifies resilience. Repost, like, and share. Let's encourage each other to keep pushing beyond our boundaries. #healthcareonlinkedin #litrendingtopics

"The world is full of magic things, patiently awaiting our senses to awaken and sharpen.” If I were a stick of rock, this line from W.B. Yeats, a personal favourite, would be written through me. In my darkest moments, this belief has guided me, propelling me into exciting new territories. Our world teeters on the edge of darkness, but if we fail to open our eyes, noses, and hearts to the opportunities around us, our feet will sink into concrete. The signs are unmistakable; we've veered off course. Human evolution is experiencing a rapid surge. Scientists now theorise that evolution can accelerate under certain conditions. Just observe the nimble thumbs of today's youth, fluttering over tiny mobile keyboards faster than a sparrow's wings. Or, witness women who have embarked on an unstoppable journey, their confidence fuelled by instincts of compassion and empathy—essential traits for our survival. Men must adapt in kind, embracing vulnerability and harnessing their soft power to forge ahead. As surely as day follows night, monumental shifts in human values and behaviours lie ahead. Evolution does not favour those who view war as the answer or deem peace negotiations weak, nor does it favour those who believe psychopathy is synonymous with leadership. How wrong does this sound? How wrong that each year we spend 700 times more on arms than peace. In our new era of free thought, guidance will supersede dogma. How wrong that we dream of being rich in money, rather than rich in what we promise. Life is a precious gift and each of us is as valuable as the next. While some cling to delusions of supremacy, the humility of the oppressed should serve as our guiding light toward the next phase of our journey. Across business, public services, and non-profits, synergies will emerge as imaginations expand to embrace new realms of possibility. Great leaders will sow the seeds of tomorrow, relegating greed and immediacy to the shadows of our less evolved past. If not us, then who, if not now, then when. So, where do we begin? I offer a keynote I promise will ignite endorphins and inspire fresh perspectives and strategies. It might just be the most important and far-reaching booking you ever make. #future #thefutureofwork #keynotespeaker #conferencespeaker #exhilarate #audacious #bestisyettocome #motivationalspeaker #eventorganisers #conferenceplanners #lookingforspeakers #inspirationalspeaker #socialhousing #businessforgood #localauthorities #housingassociations #universitiesinuk #colleges #hrcommunity

The 'Rightness' of Your Cause Is Pointless. Any social system, whether it be a corporation, a country, or a family, is the way it is because those with powerful leverage want it that way. Even if you perceive the gaps, imbalances, and future risks, trying to alert others will not make you popular. Don’t expect to be rewarded or applauded. Those with dominant leverage want it the way it is. Understanding this leads us to innovative strategies for exercising leadership, to adapt, transform, and change. It is pointless to try to persuade a powerful, dominant view of ‘the rightness of your cause.’ Sometimes, to transform a system, we do best to work within the system.

Mastering the nuances of human behavior is essential for anyone aspiring to become an effective leader. Robert Sapolsky's "Behave: The Biology of Humans at Our Best and Worst" offers a rich tapestry of insights that bridge immediate neural responses to ancient evolutionary pressures, providing a comprehensive view of what drives human actions. https://lnkd.in/e-CWRX87

🔸Human Vitality?🔸 I’m skeptical of much leadership literature. After all, many leaders have ultimately succeeded by virtue of something that they have little control over - their possession and inheritance of traits like exceptional energy, stamina, and emotional vitality. Such people advising about leadership is not unlike a person with extraordinary natural skin modeling skin cream. Still, the issue of how we understand and make sense of human vitality and energy remains curious. And, aren’t those traits unfairly distributed, given the outsized role they play in human fortune? This article in Lapham's Quarterly offers a better read on same. #energy #burnout #leadership #vitality https://lnkd.in/eeASUmm5

Embracing the Power of Belief 🌊 Yesterday I had the opportunity to visit the breathtaking Loch Ness in Scotland, home to the legendary Nessie. Interestingly, a recent survey revealed that a majority of Scots believe in this mythical creature! It got me thinking about the nature of belief—why do we hold onto ideas that can't be proven? During my tour, my guide shared a profound perspective: "We choose to believe in something magical, and until you prove me wrong, I will continue to do so." This beautifully captures the essence of belief and its potential to inspire us. In our lives, we often seek data and scientific proof to validate our self-beliefs. But what if we embraced the idea of believing in our own powers—our ability to be successful, bold, creative, and innovative—without needing constant evidence? I believe that if more people adopted this mindset, we would experience greater happiness and a surge of innovative solutions. Imagine a world where women confidently break the glass ceiling, empowered by their unwavering self-belief becoming and taking more risk to reach leadership positions. Do you believe in mythical creatures? 🦄 ⤵️ And more importantly, what self-beliefs do you hold onto religiously? Let's engage in this conversation and inspire one another to believe in the extraordinary! #SelfBelief #womenpower #Empowerment #leadershipmindset #MindsetMatters
