Assuming the chart is accurate, or close. Let's realize that insurance provides no treatment and other than paying the bills does exactly nothing for health. They like to call themselves health plans, so we don't call them bill payers. Then there are many other forms of intermediary that also do not provide any care or health. The system has converted from transactions to financially support caregiving, into caregivers and patients supporting profit taking transactions. This is upside down.

>>Communication is Key: Benefits 101: Definitions Each open enrollment is uniquely developed by the factors and circumstances of the employer's organization and market search. Some questions my clients and I answer together before the open enrollment are: 🔸How do we talk about the employee’s and employer’s share of the cost? 🔸How should we talk about the state of healthcare and health insurance in the US? 🔸What is the messaging around benefit changes or consistency? 🔸What education will we share that can impact the employee’s cost at the time of service or provide about healthcare navigation? 🤓 Lest we not forget to first study and discuss the basic definitions!

Why did doctors sell out healthcare to insurance companies? Well, they didn't exactly. The ACA's individual mandate meant: virtually no cash payer market in the United States. Health shares and other nuanced products did a lot to keep a sliver of the pie in cash pay, but consider that almost all Americans had either CMS or a major medical carrier as their payer for 5-7 years (and still, really). The nullifying of the individual mandate in 2019 effectively put the ball back in the court of individuals and providers for the ACA. Group health plans haven't caught up to this idea yet. Give people their money, let them choose how to consume healthcare - even if you offer a great employer sponsored plan. The rest is on doctors to reject national networks as the governor for US healthcare by working directly with businesses and individuals.

Key Insights on U.S. Health Insurance Trends I recently analyzed health insurance coverage across U.S. states from 2010 to 2016, and the findings are compelling: Uninsured rates dropped significantly. States expanding Medicaid saw the largest improvements, with Kentucky and California leading. Tax credits matter! Over 36% of tax credit recipients were in the South, helping millions afford insurance. Medicaid expansion transforms lives. States like California and New York saw enrollment surge between 2013-2016. Regional disparities persist. While the ACA improved coverage, gaps remain, particularly in non-expansion states. One unfortunate outcome since 2010 for patients and doctors has been the mergers and acquisitions of large health networks. In 2010, (depending on variable sources), physicians owned and operated roughly 61% of medical practices in the United States. As of January 2024, (again depending on variable sources) roughly 22% of medical practices are owned and operated by physicians. Doctors have lost control of the medical field. Who is in charge of our healthcare system at this point? I can assure you, it is not doctors. Personally, I would like to see doctors running the show again. I would also like to see health insurance premiums become affordable again for the patient population; however, I think moving away from health insurance companies and towards healthshares is in the best interest of all Americans. More on that later. Our failed attempt at government healthcare is one of the many reasons why I will be working with and communicating on behalf of supporting Direct Pay Healthcare providers and Republican lawmakers who are not for the removal of private medical practices.
