Chief Communications Officer at Access Holdings

Sitting on a flight from Gabarone gives me just the time I need to reflect on the last couple of days. Oh, by the way the correct pronunciation is Ha-ba-roh-neh. But that’s not the story. I just had the pleasure of visiting Botswana for the first time. Wait! Before I go on, did you know that Access Bank Plc has a presence in Botswana? We do. We do! In the words of Biggie: “… and if you don’t know, now you know.” So, this was a work-related trip and certainly one I won’t soon forget. Plenty learning. Plenty inspiration. Plenty Deliverables!!! Toyin Henry-Ajayi, Janice Bangiji, Gideon Haruna and co: There is work oo! In addition to all the colleagues I met for the first time, I loved the opportunity to finally meet my Botswana Corporate Comms family face-to-face after only collaborating through emails and Teams meetings. There’s something truly special about in-person interactions that no amount of virtual communication can replicate. Fair to say that getting to know each other better in person brought a new depth to our professional relationships. Ladies, it was such a pleasure meeting you in person. Please keep doing that thing you do so well. The days were incredibly busy. However, although disappointed at not having more time to explore the sights and sounds of Botswana, I did carve out a moment for a 12km dance. One of the most striking impressions from this trip was the sheer vastness of Africa. Traveling to Botswana reminded me of how diverse and expansive this continent is. This experience has reinforced my commitment to exploring more of Africa—there’s so much more to see, learn, and appreciate. Big shoutout to Access Corporation for the opportunity. For anyone who is still waiting and wondering, I urge you to do more Africa. See more Africa. Whether for work or play (and if your pocket allows), every trip is an opportunity to discover something new. Ps. No, I did not get to meet 100m Olympic gold medalist Tebogo Letsile. Maybe next trip. #botswana
