A must read article by Yuval Abraham, on how AI in the wrong hands can be used to wreak havoc, destruction and devastate human societies. The need for a universal implementation of Isaac Asimov's law of robotics on all AI/ML systems is the urgent need of the hour. Responsible AI/ML principles must include a more detailed set of legal restrictions on the impact these solutions may have on human life. Asimov's 3 laws state: 1 - A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm. 2 - A robot must obey orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law. 3 - A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law. #ResponsibleAI #AIethics

TECHNO WARS An AI GENERATED RESPONSE: STATE CONTROLLED BARBARISM and the INVISIBLE SHIELD 🛡 Clivelive.co.uk SOCIAL RESEARCH: AI sarm.ai The question the military the state the public The answer The relationship between the military, the state, and the public is complex and has changed over time: The Armed Forces Covenant This national covenant is a promise to treat those who serve or have served in the Armed Forces, and their families, with fairness and respect. The covenant involves the government, businesses, local authorities, charities, and the public. The role of Parliament In the UK, the government has the prerogative power to decide to deploy the armed forces, but Parliament has no legal role in this decision. However, in practice, successive governments have consulted and informed Parliament about military action. The relationship between the military and the people In the 19th century, the relationship between the military and the people changed significantly. The military became a bottom-up liberation movement, rather than a top-down power instrument. The interface between the military and society The interface between the military and civil government and society has become more complex. Political acceptability There are risks to political acceptability if the armed forces are seen as the solution to every major problem. Military states A military state is a government that is directly run by the military, which can happen after a coup or occupation. Military governments are typically undemocratic, but can sometimes be a transition to democracy. Beer 🍻 🇩🇪 & Bots 🤖 & BRYTER Today Germany‘s Handelsblatt gives an overview of #AI in the country. Unexpected: - There are actually not that many software companies. - They are distributed all over the country, even in small cities (Aleph Alpha, Black Forest AI) - They are very vertical (DeepL for translation, Hawk for security, Helsing defense, Rasa & Cognigy for CS bots, BRYTER for legal, etc.) - They are sometimes older and most are pre-GenAI => Still a lot of potential. Silent Enim Leges Inter Arma - The Latin maxim "Silent enim leges inter arma," traditionally translated as "In times of war, law falls silent," has been reflected in various legal and ethical contexts throughout history, signifying the suspension of legal norms during armed conflicts. This principle, rooted in Cicero's rhetoric and later echoed in episodes of Star Trek, highlights the tension between national security and civil liberties. In the U.S., landmark cases like Ex parte Merryman during the Civil War and Hirabayashi v. United States during World War II have tested these boundaries, with the courts sometimes supporting the suspension of civil rights in the name of national security. The UK's approach, as seen in Liversidge v. Anderson, demonstrates a similar struggle but also includes dissenting voices like Lord Atkin's, emphasizing the continuity of law even amid warfare. Today, with the nature of war involving non-state actors and cyber conflicts, and an increased focus on international law, the justification for suspending civil liberties such as habeas corpus is more critically examined, reflecting a shift towards maintaining legal integrity and human rights even during crises. This evolution highlights the ongoing challenge of balancing security needs with the protection of fundamental freedoms in both domestic and international arenas. 👉🏻 More INDUSTRY INSIDER news HOT off the press! AI has hit promotional materials. Just this week, a fake James Bond trailer featuring Henry Cavill as 007 racked up 2.5 M views. A24 also used AI to generate promotional posters for Civil War: 👉🏻 Vegas’ Sphere blown to bits 👉🏻 Chicago River dumpster fire 👉🏻 LA lake artillery and a giant swan 👉🏻 Miami bombed and drenched in neon One group that has taken a stand against AI is the Archival Producers Alliance, a group of Oscar and Emmy-winning documentary filmmakers. They stated: “We started to see that people were being asked to create fake archival materials, such as photorealistic images that are indistinguishable from primary sources.” As such, the APA has put together guidelines: “Meant to address the creation of new materials, as well as substantial alterations to existing primary source materials that change their meaning in ways that could mislead the audience… forever muddying the historical record.” Read more about the drafted guidelines below 👇🏻 https://lnkd.in/eyybpEWd …and for more industry insider info, I would highly recommend you sign-up below 👇🏻 https://lnkd.in/gSWRx7Uv

Imagine a world where intelligent machines have the power to decide matters of life and death on the battlefield. Sounds chilling, doesn't it? Yet, this scenario might not be as far-fetched as we'd like to think. #ArtificialIntelligence #WarMachines #Ethics The messy ethics of making war with machines is a complex issue that's increasingly demanding our attention. As AI systems become more sophisticated, they raise novel questions about the blurred line between human and machine decision-making in warfare. When does a decision cross the ethical line and become a decision to kill? While fully autonomous weapons that operate without any human input have likely not been used in real-world combat yet, the technology is advancing rapidly. And we need to grapple with the moral implications now, before it's too late. Where do we draw the line between acceptable and unacceptable levels of machine autonomy in the theater of war? These are the tough questions we must confront as a society. #MilitaryTech #EthicsInTech
