🌍 Highlights from Resilience & Adaptation Last week (November 13th), we dove into the pressing topic of resilience and adaptation in the face of climate change. Our speakers led a thought-provoking journey through Singapore’s and the region’s adaptation roadmaps, highlighting the true costs of climate change and its impact on corporations, communities, and natural landscapes. We explored effective approaches to building sustainability across diverse sectors. We learned from inspiring resilience practices and initiatives from India, as well as nature conservation efforts to create a resilient living environment as possible ways for sustainable development. 5 Key Takeaways:  1️⃣ Adaptation is a Necessary Complement to Mitigation Adaptation is not an alternative to mitigation but a necessary complement, as climate impacts will persist even with strong mitigation efforts. 2️⃣ The Economic Imperative of Sustainable Infrastructure Investment Investing in sustainable infrastructure is economically beneficial, with a high benefit-cost ratio, and essential for ensuring the continued functioning of cities and societies. 3️⃣ Advancing Youth-Driven Environmental Leadership Through YES, students become environmental advocates through peer learning, fostering increased awareness and engagement in environmental issues among younger students. 4️⃣ Localised Climate Adaptation: India’s 3rd Pillar of Growth With 121 agroclimatic zones in India one size doesn’t fit all. Effective adaptation strategies require integrating local knowledge and experiences with scientific insights. 5️⃣ Climate Adaptation & Community Preparedness for Climate Events Recognizing the importance of collective action in addition to government efforts, Singapore is engaging community leaders to foster community-level preparedness and response strategies for extreme weather events. Thank you for joining us in exploring the critical role of climate adaptation alongside mitigation efforts. From the economic case for sustainable infrastructure to India's diverse strategies, your engagement highlights the power of collective action. 🤝 🔈 You still have a chance to be part of the conversation.
