The biggest lesson I learned in freelancing came with a 40K price tag. In my early freelancing days, I had just started offering Meta Ads services and landed a school client. I was Eager to build good relationships, I was hesitant to be strict about asking for payments. I was too shy to remind the client and didn’t want to push too hard, worried about seeming rude or unprofessional. One day, I called her and gently asked for payment. She reassured me, saying, "Don't worry, Alok ji, you'll get paid soon. Please wait a little longer." I didn’t push back, thinking it was my duty to be patient and understanding. But after another ten days of no payment, I reached out again. She had a new excuse, asking me to continue working and promising payment soon. This cycle repeated for 45 days. Meanwhile, I continued investing my own money and efforts into the ads, trusting her promise that I’d be reimbursed for ad spend as well. But then, things took a turn. She started ignoring my calls and messages, and eventually, I realized I’d been ghosted. I was desperate for that money at the time, and it was a rude awakening to learn that clients could simply vanish, leaving service providers out in the cold. The loss of 40K was a huge hit, especially when I was just starting out. But instead of letting it break me, I took it as a valuable lesson. Now, I always charge an upfront fee before starting any work. This experience taught me the importance of valuing my time, efforts, and expertise. If you don't want to face this sh*t, Follow these keypoints. 1. Always secure upfront payment before starting a project. 2. Don’t hesitate to set clear boundaries with clients. 3. Trust is important, but so is protecting yourself. 4. Experience is the best teacher, even if the lesson is costly. 5. Value your work, and others will too. P.S. Remember, it's okay to be kind, but never at the cost of your worth. #linkedin #marketing #branding #leadgenexpert #leadgeneration #linkedinjourney

I wasted 4 months on Instagram! Yep, 4 whole months down the drain! It started in January 2023 when I began my freelancing journey there. I created a separate account and got to work, posting content regularly and trying out all sorts of marketing tricks. But guess what? Despite my efforts, I didn't land a single gig. I started feeling pretty burnt out and started doubting if freelancing was really my thing.😶 Then, one day, a friend of mine suggested I give LinkedIn a shot. I always thought of LinkedIn as just a platform for big shots in the corporate world, you know? But boy, was I wrong! It turned out to be this amazing place where I could connect with professionals, build my own brand, and yes, even find freelancing opportunities. So, with 4 months down the drain on Instagram, I decided to give LinkedIn a try for just 2 months. I set a clear goal for myself: If I couldn't get a freelancing project in that time, I'd stop freelancing. And you know what happened? It was like a breath of fresh air! I started creating content and engaging with others, and before I knew it, I landed my very first SEO project within those two months. Looking back, I realized I'd been using the wrong social media platform (Instagram). I wish I'd realized it sooner! But hey, you live and you learn, right? 😉 Now, thanks to LinkedIn, I'm making a good living through my freelancing gigs. It's been a game-changer for me. So, here's my advice to you: don't make the same mistake I did. Choose your platform wisely, based on where your audience actually hangs out, not just your assumptions. Trust me, it can make all the difference in your career.🙌 P.S. Have you ever found yourself in a similar situation? Share your experiences in the comments below! Follow me Ankush Gupta 🤓

I removed 100+ connections last week because my goals have changed. When I reluctantly signed up for LinkedIn a few years ago, it was to get a job. And until January, that's all I had considered it for. Those 100+ knew me as something else entirely: a passed over, laid-off UX designer struggling to find his feet. And that's not who I am anymore. At big companies, creatives we're usually the first to go, and I was one of them. (A few times, actually) It was a grind and honestly, not the grind for me. So I doubled down on what had been working for me - freelancing. During the pandemic, I started freelancing as a side hustle. Things like: → website builds → email sequencing → content copywriting It was simply a means to an end at the time. But I gave it a name anyway: Digital Grit In my head, it needed to be something more than just a side hustle. I needed to start visualizing it as a business, a hub or location where I could build upon this energy I was collecting and actually harness it. And for the first few months, I ran entirely on ego and bottled energy. I got a ton of local work though hustle and some lucky breaks. Then I burned out for the first time. My initial energy had dried up, I had no leads and I had to basically learn how to market myself from scratch. I had to start spending way more time online - this made me uncomfortable. What started as me freelancing was growing into a creator business/agency. If I was going to make this work, I had to unlearn my entire approach. I had to reset and refine my focus entirely. I realized that I was trying to do two things at once. I was trying to be a faceless creator, and hid, for over a year behind my business logo and name. But there are things I can never do as Digital Grit. There are things that I could only do as myself, as Josh Parsons. And I hated that idea. Yet I back jumped on LinkedIn and I took the mask off. I embraced my "personal brand". And it was f*cking cringy at first. And to be totally honest, I'm still not in love with the whole social media thing. My newsletter keeps me going. It's the direct emails with all the creators I've met over the past few month. My inbox: that's where its at! No algorithms or guru gatekeepers. Solid, curated content severed up at my pace. If that sounds good, join me each Friday for Serious About Marketing, where I take marketing seriously so that you don't have too. And while you're at it, take a few of my free email courses! Always free, always a bit of fun. ___ → I'm Josh, I manage marketing for growing creators and freelancers → Try my free marketing crash courses via email! Link in bio Things like:

Follow your fun and the path will become clear ✨ Four years ago in the dark depth of lockdowns, I was feeling a bit restless in my social media freelancing life So I decided to join one of Eckhart Tolle's online courses which helped you discover your next steps- Living in the West, we have an obsession with productivity and the question he gave us early on was simple, but something I don't think I've ever been asked before What would you do if it was just for fun? Not to make money, not to progress your career - just fun! Already juggling full days with my 3-year-old and some freelancing clients my initial thought who the h*ll has for that!? Maybe when I'm retired, or at the very least when the nurseries re-open. However, he continued to tell stories on how following the fun, can help open doors you never knew existed. For those of you who know me personally, you know I studied acting and being on stage/performing has always been when I've felt my most creative self, in flow. I missed it. Tiktok had just started to take off, and although I had zero time as it was - creating some silly sketches, and videos would give me something to look forward to in the evenings where I could be creative - without leaving the house or having visitors as per "the rules" back then. Although my videos were mostly comedy and included no advertising - I decided to pop this video (yep, me in a bedsheet and curtain tie) on my People Per Hour freelancer profile, adding to social media services - Tiktok management. I got my first client within a few weeks, started an agency, and then one of my clients SmartPurse - Financial Education Platform offered me a great opportunity to come on board as their social media and marketing manager. From Switzerland, they found me from that very People Per Hour profile - I now get to use my creativity and marketing experience to make a difference by helping people, especially women learn about finances. Would this have ever happened if I hadn't done something I deemed unproductive a few years ago? I guess we'll never know. 𝗤𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲: Have you ever taken the advice to "follow your fun"? If you're feeling a little lost, and don't know your next steps I recommend asking yourself what that would look like for you, then try it out. You honestly, never know where it may lead. #followyourfun #followyourbliss #tiktok

The journey from freelancer to agency owner has been a long one! ❤️ In 2017, I created a Facebook group to share memes, which initially included my college friends.👫👬 Time passes and more than 10,000 people joined this group and started promoting their business and services. My interest grew and I started charging a small amount for it. 💸💰 Then I came to know about Digital Marketing from here.., I searched for an institute to learn Digital Marketing properly and joined NDMIT , after completing the course I got placed as a Social Media Manager. 👨💻 After some time, one of my relative asked me to manage the Facebook page of one of his friend as a freelancer., thus I entered the world of freelancing!!👨🔧👨💻 From office work, to creating content for my freelancing clients, managing their accounts. It was all on me! ✨✨ There were days when I was in constant fear and stress and wondered if all this would ever be enough. 😔 But I knew one thing for sure that ‘this hard work and investment will pay off one day.’ ✅ This thought was my motivation!! 💯 And finally, all the dreams I had ever had have come true. I have finally become an AGENCY OWNER at B.R. Digitals .🏹 With this media agency, I will help brands and businesses increase their sales with Digital marketing. This huge achievement would not have been possible without the support of my freelancing clients.⚡⚡ I am grateful to everyone (from my friends to my clients) who inspired me, trusted me and allowed me to do their branding and advertising, referred me clients, supported me during my tough time. In the last 3 months, my business went through a major pivot. Here's the story. I've had Cabomba Content 🦉since November 2022 (under a different name) but never invested any time or energy into actually making it something. In September 2023, I decided to take back control of my time and income after working myself to death for others (without any benefits). I wasn't happy, and I wasn't living the life I dreamed of when I started freelancing 4 years ago. I quit my full-time freelance gig and went all in on my own business. Unfortunately, I was a bit lost on what to do. I was a generalist, so my services ranged from blog writing to social media management to SEO optimisation. Still, I couldn't figure out how to put it all together into something my ICP would need. Mind you, I didn't even have my ICP nailed down back then. In March this year, I was setting up my social media channels for Cabomba, and I realised what a game changer LinkedIn could be for me. I was still lost, still all over the place, but I was getting closer. Then April came around, and things FINALLY started falling into place. I found my WHY and my passion and realised how much others could benefit, too. It all started by joining a ton of social media groups. On every single one, I always saw people complaining about not getting clients or not knowing how to start to find them, and I realised I could help. In the past 4 years, I've never once had no clients. Yes, I struggle financially too from time to time as contracts ended and the gap between finding a replacement became daunting, but I've always been lucky to have one or two contracts going at all times. So here we are in May, and I have a fantastic new offer to help other creators and businesses keep their pipelines full. What do I offer? I'll help you to use your social media content and network to get you your next client. If you're struggling to find your next client, don't know where even to start getting leads, or are sick and tired of doing lead generation all on your own when more important tasks are calling, then I want to hear from you. What do you get besides a full pipeline? - A massive discount for becoming a founding member - No price increases for as long as you're part of my program (even when I put the price up in the future) - Free 1:1 sessions every month - Free access to my resources And yes, I have an affordable option for those just starting, too. The catch, I would like your permission to use your results as a case study, and there are only 3 spaces available! Interested? Send me a DM with the word "LEAD", and I'll send you the offer. P.S. I'm only keeping the doors open until the 14th of June at 11:59 pm

It all started 8 years ago! And found its meaning 4 years ago. I started freelancing back in 2017 as a student for fun, writing book reviews & just being good at social media. I posted for fun because I had lots of books at home. Before I knew it I became a book reviewer and got free books. Then did paid book reviews. Eventually became writing articles and blogs. I had a corporate life post college as well, where I mostly worked on content & copywriting. Then hit the pandemic & changed my career. I always knew I was good at social media but the pandemic, people selling their online courses, the demand for freelancers, made me a social media manager and content creator. I upskilled. Worked as a VA for global clients while being a content creator, hosting a podcast and taking on minor SMM projects. Life took a turn again when I started doing my masters. I had no clients. I lacked motivation in creating content daily. I somewhere saw many who started with me reaching new income heights while I was stuck making nothing. However slow I still stayed consistent. A agency noticed me, I collaborated with them to get me clients as I was on the journey to complete my masters degree in business. While at the end of my college days, an idea sprout. I founded @dreamtmediasocials ✨ My social media agency! (Yet to be officially launched) Not sure where this new journey will take me. But while looking back, that shy girl who liked to be behind the scenes indulged in books would never have thought of hosting a podcast or creating videos, and that girl who jist gained her camera confidence & worked for other would never have imagined to be the boss! You always see the hardships and always show the good bits to others. When in reality the journey was a mixture of both. I was ashamed of doing book reviews because I hardly earned anything from them. I hated corporate culture while I worked as a writer. I was always conscious of my looks when I became a creator & scared of the negative comments. Just like all those experiences I’m scared today of how & will I have it in me to run a whole agency? The truth is each phase of my life taught me something. Each negative expe w et to be officially launched) Not sure where this new journey will take me. But while looking back, that introverted shy girl who liked to be behind the scenes indulged in books would never have thought of hosting a podcast or creating videos, and that girl who jist gained her camera confidence & worked for other would never have imagined to be the boss! You always see the hardships and always show the good bits to others. When in reality the journey was a mixture of both. Each phase of my life taught me something. No one had faith in me. But I did. I chose something different than most conventional things & I made it to where I’m today. ✨ #thedreamylass

I decided to quit freelancing because of these 3 things: 📌 I have been feeling burned out by creating content for my personal brands, cold DMing, and emailing potential prospects to offer my services 📌 Despite putting in enough hard work, I am not able to monetize my personal brand This was my story one year back I think people who have just started creating content on LinkedIn and are looking to monetize their personal brand can relate to it But here's what I did to overcome the problem: 𝟭. 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵: ↳Created a list of the top 10 content creators in my niche ↳Observed their style of writing content. ↳Took references from their content and tried repurposing them with my perspective 𝟮. 𝗡𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴: ↳Used to see people posting about client wins ↳Reached out to them with a personalized message to guide me in a way to get my first client ↳People on LinkedIn are so humble; if you reach out to them genuinely, they will help you 𝟯. 𝗜𝗻𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝗽𝗮𝗶𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲𝘀: ↳Used my savings to invest in courses related to content marketing, lead generation, etc ↳Not only took the course for the sake of doing it but also took notes of each point and executed the strategies This process took almost three months Once I had all the strategies and learning, I put my head down and got ahead with executing all the strategies and remained consistent in creating content on LinkedIn for the next 6 months Boom! The magic happened: 💫 People started recognizing me as the go-to person for social media marketing and branding 💫 My DMs got flooded with inbound leads and collaboration opportunities 💫 Engagement on my posts skyrocketed as I grew a loyal community for my personal brand All of these things would never have been possible if I had given up in the initial journey of freelancing Remember: 💛 If you have just started with freelancing or building a personal brand on LinkedIn, don't quit because you are not seeing results or comparing your day 1 to someone's day 100 Content creation is like a marathon; Just be consistent, and you will see yourself winning within a period FOLLOW Abhijeet Awsarmal for more valuable content

I started freelancing a while back, and like many of you, I wanted to find more clients. Social media seemed like a good place to start, but I wasn't sure where to begin. Through trial and error, I've developed a winning strategy that I'm excited to share! Here's what worked for me: 𝐎𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐳𝐞𝐝 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟𝐢𝐥𝐞𝐬: First things first - I made sure my profiles were polished and professional. A clear picture, a compelling bio that explains what I do, and a strong call to action were key. 𝐕𝐚𝐥𝐮𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭: I focused on creating valuable content that resonates with my target audience. Sharing a mix of articles, videos, and images helped keep things interesting. Consistency was important, so I created a content calendar to stay on track. 𝐄𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐌𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬: I actively interacted with my followers by responding to comments and messages. I also participated in relevant conversations and used social listening tools to find new opportunities to add value. 𝐓𝐚𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐀𝐝𝐬: To reach a wider audience, I experimented with social media advertising. Platforms like Facebook and LinkedIn allowed me to target my ideal clients with laser focus. 𝐃𝐚𝐭𝐚-𝐃𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐧 𝐃𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬: Regularly analyzing my social media performance was crucial. Engagement rates, click-through rates, and conversion rates helped me understand what was working and what wasn't. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐍𝐞𝐭𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠: Joining online groups and communities where potential clients hang out proved to be a goldmine. By offering advice and sharing my expertise, I built relationships and established credibility, leading to new leads. Social media is a marathon, but by being patient, consistent, and providing value, you can watch your lead generation efforts flourish! 𝐍𝐨𝐰 𝐢𝐭'𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐧! 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐬𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐦𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐚 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐩𝐞𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐰 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐛𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬? 𝐒𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐭𝐢𝐩𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐛𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐰!

When I decided to start my VA freelance business, I never thought it would be this fulfilling to help business owners navigate various social media platforms and tech software to scale their businesses. You might be wondering why anyone would be happy to work. Before I started freelancing, I was an underpaid teacher earning less than $80 monthly. Needless to say, I decided to transition to an online language teacher role, earning a bit more than I did at school. So, I began searching for other ways to make genuine money online. I browsed the internet day in and day out until I came across freelancing. I didn't have much tech knowledge, so I decided to learn. But I needed a platform to teach what I was learning because I just love teaching. That's how I started my YouTube channel, Rissa's Campus. One year later, I got my first client who saw one of my videos and decided to work with me. It felt like divine timing because I was going through tough times. I didn't have a laptop, and he bought one for me just so we could work together. That's why I say it feels like God sent him. My first client was so good and welcoming that it truly inspired me to start my VA career. I happily worked for him not just as a social media manager but also as an overall Tech VA and social media marketing specialist. This wasn't just because I was excited to get my first client, but his kindness made me do the job with so much happiness. When I tell you, every time I get a work email from this client, I go above and beyond to complete the task. Sometimes I stay up all night learning something new to deliver the best results. By the way, if you're looking for a fun VA and social media manager who treats your business as her own and will go above and beyond, I am your girl. Here's what I can help you with: - Redesigning and rebranding your social media pages - Creating and editing videos (long-form videos, reels, stories, GIFs) specific to the target audience. - Graphic designs (banners, mockups, basic motion graphics, marketing graphics, presentation slides, infographics) - Automating and scheduling social media posts - Data analysis - Email marketing (organizing and sending bulk emails) - Research and copywriting - Handling social platforms like YouTube, Facebook, LinkedIn, X, Instagram, and Pinterest
