You’re hungry, but you’re also an adult now. A hungry one who lives far away from their mother. So you get up, scamper over to the kitchen in excitement and pick up a mixing bowl. 🥣 2 cups of flour 5 tsps of baking soda 1 tablespoon of yeast… Or was it 2 tablespoons of yeast. Is yeast even an ingredient in the recipe? 🤔 But what actually is the recipe? The realization hits you like a punch to the gut … You don’t know the recipe. All that’s in your bowl is a bunch of random ingredients, and with yeast in there, you sure as hell aren't making banana bread. From Stress to Success Thanksgiving Tip #7: This is a longer one. Cook the turkey and set the table the day before. The stress these two items can take off your mind is unbelievable. On thanksgiving day all you have to do is prepare the side dishes. I will let you look on other websites for specific ways to cook and carve Tom turkey, but once he is cooked, carve him up and put him in a large covered baking dish. Pour the drippings in a container and put it all in the fridge for the night. (My ulterior motive is that I am really bad at carving a turkey and I don’t need an audience.) It may not be pretty, but at the end of the day the meat is in a serving dish and the fat has risen to the top of the drippings, making gravy preparation so much easier the next day. You can put the carcass in a crockpot with water and let it cook overnight. This will give you great bone broth. Add onions and celery for even richer flavor. This can be frozen in 1 cup portions in freezer bags. (Have you looked at the additives in chicken broth or bouillon cubes? I did last week and was truly disappointed.) Before serving, pour some broth over the meat and warm it through. By setting the table ahead of time, you will know if you need to run to to Wal-Mart and buy more spoons because you realize that you no longer have a full set. Our lunch today was "Chipotle at home" what you need to make it: 1. One (1) large bag of black beans. 2. Two (2) bags of brown rice (microwave kind) 3. Three (3) cans of RoTell (mild). But you can get the heat that you like. 4. Three (3) cups of water. We put it in a small bowl. 5. Bowl to cook rice in microwave. 6. Large pot to cook in 7. Microwave 8. Sour cream (optional) 9. Crushed red peppers (Optional) How to make it: 1. Boil black beans in a large pot until tender and cooked. Ours took about an hour, but your stove may vary due to temperature. Let the beans cool and drain out any water. Put beans aside. 2. In a large bowl, put one (1) bag of brown microwaveable brown rice and fill the bowl with water. We cook our rice for six minutes. Your cooking times may vary due to the kind of microwave you have. After first bag of rice is done cooking, put that bag to the side to cool. Once rice is cool, put that bag of rice aside. Cook a second bag of rice as above. 3. In a large pot put black beans, and brown rice. 4. Open and drain three (3), cans of RoTell and add contents to black beans and rice. 4. Put stove on medium heat and stir adding a little bit of water to the pot. This is so the food doesn't stick. The goal is to warm the food since it's been cooled. We warmed ours for 30 minutes. Your stove may vary. You may now serve your food adding sour cream and crushed red peppers if you want.
