We're pleased to announce Allwyn’s first-ever Local Retail Champions National Winners: Coldean Convenience in Brighton and Londis Solo Convenience Store in Glasgow. They've been awarded £5,000 cash and a Social Value store makeover worth up to £20,000 After a UK-wide campaign calling on the public to nominate National Lottery retailers who go above and beyond for their community, almost 1,000 National Lottery retailers were nominated to be Local Retail Champions. This was then whittled down to two National Winners, 16 Regional Winners - who each won £5,000 cash - and 102 runners-up who've won £100. The regional and national winners picked up their Local Retail Champions awards, made from recycled National Lottery Scratchcards, at a special awards event yesterday. This campaign, which has been made possible thanks to Allwyn's Social Value Fund, recognises National Lottery retailers who have made outstanding contributions to their local communities, and is part of our commitment to supporting high streets and communities across the UK. National Lottery retailers play a pivotal role in supporting communities across the UK by selling lottery tickets that contribute to the £30 million raised weekly for Good Causes.

The Power of Purpose-Driven Loyalty Programs... Asda’s latest innovation, the 'Cashpot for Schools' initiative, is a standout example of how retailers can use loyalty programs to build deeper emotional connections with their customers. Within just 2 days, this initiative has already raised over £700k for primary schools across the UK. The success speaks volumes about how effectively Asda understands its core customers - families! Traditional, loyalty schemes have focused solely on personal rewards, Asda's approach combines personal savings with social impact, reinforcing customer loyalty through shared values. Competitors like Tesco and Sainsbury’s offer strong programs, but this added charitable element looks to be giving Asda an edge by transforming everyday shopping into a meaningful contribution. A lesson for retailers. Loyalty programs should no longer be just about points or discounts for the individual, and instead stand for creating an emotional connection and purpose through integrating communities into their offering. The result, hopefully (we will see) it cultivates long-term brand loyalty, which is the point, right? Joe Wicks is also the face of this, and who doesn't like him eh? #LoyaltyPrograms #RetailInnovation #CustomerInsights #CSR #AsdaRewards #BrandLoyalty #RetailMarketing #PurposeDrivenMarketing #SchoolFundraising

Is this the future of cause marketing? 💡 Retailer takeovers. 💳 They’re hugely popular in the UK and have started to gain traction in Australia. Instead of relying on donations from a single partner, this approach leverages the market power of a supermarket or retailer. It magnifies the impact for the charity and creates greater visibility and awareness. 🔦 Retailers and supermarkets encourage their suppliers to participate in a campaign and amplify the fundraising. Are they using market power? Yes, but for good this time. 💪 Some great examples recently include: Ø Coles Group and FightMND- not only selling blue beanies in store but offering a percentage of sales from its pork meat range and Peter’s Icy Poles. Ø Ampol- leveraging its suppliers like Mt Franklin, Mars and Magnum to raise money for its three foundation charities Ø Coles again- this time with Movember. Offering purchase triggered donations across its men’s personal care range. No surprises that many of the Coles leadership team have experience at Tesco, the UK supermarket giant. 😉 If your non-profit wants to take a partnership to the next level and win greater visibility, look at how you can tap into your partner’s networks and suppliers. Then you’re accessing money from customers and suppliers, not just your partner’s budget. 💸 #partnerships #retailertakeovers #causemarketing How are you making the most of your partner's network and market influence?

This #fundraising season may possibly be the largest one in our history! (We know that we've said that before, but it keeps growing!) The season usually ramps up at the end of August as schools are once again in session. However, this year we've sent out far more samples, and have pre-set more online stores than any other year prior. So, we know it's going to be a big one. Right now, we are taking our time and planning ahead to make sure that every other facet of our business remains running like a well-oiled machine. With an increased volume hitting our queues, it's important that our customer service, order turnaround, and services do not falter one bit. We've been focusing on streamlining our processes so that even with the large influx of fundraisers coming to us in the Fall, our operations will be smooth. We're doing this to alleviate any potential stress for our staff and eliminate any issues now, before they're ever a problem. All of that being said... Bring. It. On! #Coffee #Wholesale #Retail #FoodAndBeverage #Office

C2C Scholar John L. has authored a new article in The Conversation US discussing how major retailers like Kroger, Walmart, and Costco Wholesale can increase profits by donating expiring food instead of opting for discounts or disposal. This strategy not only enhances profitability but also addresses food insecurity in our communities. Charities running a lottery / raffle programme - have you heard the news? Yesterday the Gambling Commission published an update on their Summer 2023 consultation – Proposed changes to LCCP (Licence Conditions and Codes of Practice) and RTS (Remote Gambling and Software Technical Standards): Consultation Response. There had been concerns raised by charities running raffles and lottery programmes that the proposed changes would effectively render these forms of fundraising impractical and not financially viable, risking significant income to a large number of UK charities. Back in October last year I attended a meeting organised by the DMA (Data & Marketing Association) UK with the Gambling Commission representatives and a large number of representatives of UK charities from within DMA membership to discuss the potential impact on this stream of fundraising. It appears that those views have been noted. The response to the consultation is that "lotteries are not in scope for the upcoming new requirement for direct marketing". Whilst I haven't had a chance to read the full report yet, it seems that other changes are coming which will protect the UK's vulnerable consumers from the risks and harms that gambling can bring, which feels like another win. I'll add a link to the response in the comments below. #CharityLotteries #Fundraising #ConsultationOutcome

Here’s the last clip we’re sharing from our recent Alvio x Jonas Sports webinar. ⚽ ⚽ ⚽ In this segment, Alvio’s Ian Rabbidge talks directly about how an Alvio integration can benefit sports clubs and retailers: 📢 “We integrated with Jonas at the end of last year. Alvio enables clubs to directly integrate products and keep the fan onsite – which is very, very important. We enable the clubs to access hundreds of new supplies at virtually no risk. “Alvio enables clubs to experiment – virtually risk-free – with new products. And for the clubs that are using the Jonas web-based auction platform for charities raising money, they can connect to Alvio to access multiple suppliers of authenticated memorabilia. “And the connection to Alvio is very, very simple. It's a three-step process. You sign up, log in, connect, and you import the products.” Find out more about what Alvio can do for sports clubs, at the link below. 🚀 #ecommerce #collabecom #sportsretail #jonassports #webinar #partnerships #networking #justalvioit #alvio

🌟 Unlocking the Potential of External Lottery Managers (ELMs) 🌟 https://hubs.li/Q02xcNLq0 If you're venturing into the world of charity lotteries or raffles, understanding the role of an External Lottery Manager (ELM) is essential. But what exactly is an ELM, and why should your charity consider using one? What is an ELM? According to the Gambling Commission, an ELM is someone who arranges lotteries on behalf of a society or authority but is not directly part of it. Essentially, they help you run your lottery by managing various aspects like promotions, ticket transactions, and draws. Why Use an ELM? While managing everything in-house is an option, partnering with an ELM offers added security and expertise. ELMs are well-versed in compliance with the Gambling Commission's regulations and can handle multiple aspects of your lottery program efficiently. 4 Things to Look for in an ELM: 1. Secure Environment: Ensure they prioritise data security for your players. 2. Systems and Processes: Check if they have the necessary systems to handle prize-led fundraising responsibly. 3. Knowledge of Regulations: Confirm their understanding of the Gambling Commission's rules and standards. 4. Breadth of Services: Choose an ELM that can support various elements of your lottery program. Why Choose Woods Valldata as Your ELM? At Woods Valldata, we pride ourselves on being trusted ELMs for over 60 UK charities.
