Over three decades, The National Lottery has helped transform thousands of lives, including creating over 7,400 millionaires, with incredible stories to share. To mark The National Lottery’s 30th Birthday, we’ve spotlighted the stories of five inspirational winners: - Cornwall's Peter Congdon, who after his £13.5 million Lotto win offers local brides and prom teens chauffeur rides in his Bentley Continental, bringing joy to others on special occasions - Des Home, a Kent-based grandmother and cancer survivor who fulfilled a self-made promise by publishing her memoir 'And Then' after winning £1 million on EuroMillions. Her book chronicles an eventful life marked by serious health battles and personal triumphs, encapsulating her experiences from her naval service to raising a family - Former chefs Bill and Cath Mullarkey, who after winning £1 million on EuroMillions, relocated to St Lucia to build a three-storey home and establish Brigands Hideaway, a restaurant celebrated for its local Caribbean cuisine - Leicestershire grandmother Terri Picton-Clark, a former ballroom champion, who realised her dream of dancing at Blackpool Tower Ballroom, despite her health challenges, after winning £1 million on Lotto - David Lawrence, a long-time supporter of disability causes, who realised his dream by building a crazy golf course in his own garden for local community groups after his £1 million Lotto win, with the aim of inspiring people with disabilities to play golf. The National Lottery creates on average a millionaire every day of the week – and thanks to players across the UK, more than £30 million is raised for Good Causes on a weekly basis. #NationalLottery30

England may not have brought home the Euros cup this time, but we should still be proud of our football players, manager, support staff, and all they have achieved. Reaching the finals is no mean feat. This success is a testament to the investment and support behind the team, which is crucial for any team, business, or individual to thrive. At the Danos Group, our core values reflect this belief. We stand by "Supported to Succeed"—investing in and supporting our people to enable them to achieve their full potential. We "Embrace & Drive Change" by fostering openness, exploring new ideas, and leading change. And we uphold "Integrity & Accountability" by being honest, transparent, respectful, and taking responsibility for our performance. The England football team embodies these values through their investment, support, openness to new ideas, and acceptance of responsibility, making them a stronger and more impactful team. Globally, grassroots football is where all footballers start. While only the very best go on to represent their countries, football offers most children a community to develop not only their skills but also communication, team building, and resilience. Since 2022, the Danos Group has supported the Doverhouse Lions Community Football Club in one of the UK’s most deprived housing estates. Each week, this club supports over 300 children and young adults, providing a safe place for football, meaningful education pathways, and a broad range of initiatives focusing on employment, social deprivation, crime reduction, youth offending, health, inclusion, environmental awareness, and positive future opportunities. Every young person matters, and we are committed to awakening that realisation. This year, the Danos Group London team is embarking on a charity challenge. We are preparing for the London Duathlon in September, with all proceeds going to the Doverhouse Lions Community Football Club. If you can, please donate by visiting https://gofund.me/da4ad6b8. Join us in championing this remarkable team and their journey toward excellence! Your support can make a profound difference in the lives of these children and their community. #DoverhouseLionsFC #CommunityChampions #DanosGroup #ChallengeForCharity #LondonDuathlon

TIME SENSITIVE POST...and if I come accross as begging and desperate, it's because I am. I ain't too proud to BEG...but first, a question: How many of you work in hospitality, once did, or know someone who works in a bar, restaurant, hotel, catering company or resort? Maybe someone who works in hospitality at Canucks, Lions or Canadians games. Now imagine you, someone you love or care about facing a health challenge (everything from a cancer diagnosis to surgery to a broken leg) and not being able to pay for things like rent, buy food, pay for medications because you can't work (meaning no wage or tips). Talk about stress. So much stress that you can't focus on recovery. Hospitality workers dedicate themselves to creating the moments we enjoy so much: dining out, sipping cocktails, staying in hotels, and celebrating at events. I know in the last month alone, I have enjoyed every single thing on that list and if someone I knew personally had a crisis, I would 100% step up to help. Here's the problem...WHEN exactly is that smiling bartender or hotel valet supposed to tell you that they are drowning and only need a bit of help covering essentials like rent, food, and medical care for the next month while their benefits kick in or until the next paycheck. That's the point. They can't and won't. When you buy your Spirit of Hospitality ticket from the BC Hospitality Foundation you are not only getting a shot at $31K in prizing, you are directly helping PEOPLE (as opposed to research). People you might know now, one day know or one day be. In fact, BCHF has supported over 300 individuals and provided over $1.2 million in funding since 2006 and unless we hit our fundraising goals, there will be people who will be left without the help they need. I am putting out a DESPERATE call to action for those of you who live in British Columbia. We’re only at $32K of our $60K goal – with just 4 days left to reach it. Money is tight, all the charities are asking...I get it. But... if everyone bought a $5 ticket or pitched in for a bundle with a few coworkers...we'd EASILY hit our goal. Are you a BC BUSINESS or CORPORATION who are entertaining to impress clients this holiday season? Total BOSS move to support this lottery - just sayin' . Here's how you can help...Buy a ticket - we have something for every budget: $5 each (a coffee’s worth!) $50 for 20 tickets (perfect as a gift for employees after your catered lunch – hint hint!) Need somewhere in the middle? 3 tix for $10 and 7 for $20 If I could buy tickets, I would – not just because I have worked in and value of this industry, but because of the incredible joy it brings to my life. Since I can’t (I am on the Board of Directors) I’m asking (OK, begging.) my BC LinkedIn community. Will you consider buying a ticket? Will you do it now? This minute? Here's the link: https://lnkd.in/gitCGNKv Thank you. #SupportBC #BCHF #SpiritOfHospitalityLottery #Hospitality

A perfect example. 👀 For funders to show fundraisers a little insight into their grant making. Well done to The Robertson Trust who today told us: ❓How many grants they had made. 🕣 The timeframe in which they were awarded. 💫 The success rate. 🏆 And a breakdown of how the money was awarded by theme, type and location. ⚽ GREAT CAUSE ALERT ⚽ ATTENTION ALL MARKETING AND BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGERS. I HAVE A PLAN TO HELP FEED OVER 2000 FAMILIES. YOU MAY THINK I AM TALKING ABOUT A WARZONE OR AN ENVIRONMENTAL DISASTER? NO! THERE IS URGENT NEED IN THE NORTH EAST OF ENGLAND. Q - WHAT DOES THE NORTH EAST LOVE MOST? A- FOOTBALL AND HELPING THOSE IN NEED. As you may know the England Ladies and Men's teams are playing at St James Park on the 31st May and 3rd June respectively. As it is the end of the football season, the amazing NUFC Fan's Food bank will have its last chance for a few months to collect funds to save many families from food poverty. The money collected is passed on to the Newcastle Food bank who from 7 sites across the city offer food parcels that will cover a weeks worth of sustenance to families in need. If you are going to either of the games, just know that whatever spare change you have will make a real difference. They are a charity close to my heart as they represent the things that make my hometown so special. Started by some football loving amazing people who believe in a fair world where we all look out for each other. I have devised a plan to raise some much needed cash to get them through long the summer months where the footy and the ability to collect is over, but the starvation is not. I am looking for 100 local businesses not necessarily limited to Newcastle to purchase 1 box of England car flags, the box will be delivered to your workplace and for each box sold 20 families will be provided food parcels for a week. The cost is only £1 per flag, as they have been subsidised by the owner of the stock for the good cause. Each business will be asked to post a link confirming that they have received the flags, and are encouraged to either give them away to staff, clients or even decorate their workplace. That way we are celebrating both national teams as they arrive in the region and also provide vital support to a worthy charity. Please share/tag this around your networks as we only have 2 weeks to sort the logistics of this all to work. Please DM me on Linkedin or email on [email protected], or even happy to take a call on 07747012238. Thanks for your support in advance, it really means a lot. #england #football #foodbank #charity #poverty #newcastle

What's going on in Scotland these days? My local sports centre (the only one in my home town) is being shut from 31st of March, that's the 2nd in the region to do so, and there's dozens being closed across Scotland, with more earmarked for closure. We have quite literally nothing for people to do in our small towns now. It's no wonder we lead Europe in drug & alcohol consumption. The picture below was from yesterday - 17.5 hours to see a Dr if you're referred by your GP and 11 hours if you have something serious! 17 and 11 hours!! Our School's are struggling for funding (some are registered as charities to allow donations from the public ), councils have no money and are selling off assets to private equity firms - my home town Falkirk's entire town centre was sold to a Private Equity firm as an example. Alcohol is taxed so highly through the woefully ineffective 'minimum pricing' policy, and any nice promotions like happy hour are banned in country so we're also gradually killing our nightlife off as well. Not to be too pessimistic, but I'm struggling a bit to think of anything that's thriving in Scotland. We pay the highest taxes in the UK, some of the highest in Europe and I can't see where it's going. We're even stopping new drilling in the North Sea which seems very short sighted Am I missing something or do we need some positive changes in this country?

Have you heard about the Bradbury Fields Lottery? We have our own lottery here at Bradbury Fields and it's all for a great cause! By participating, you support Merseyside’s blind and partially sighted community and also stand a chance to win big. Our lottery combines the excitement of winning with the satisfaction of contributing to charity. You could win cash prizes while helping improve the lives of visually impaired people. The more tickets sold, the more funds we raise to provide essential equipment and services for those affected by sight loss. These resources can significantly enhance their quality of life and make daily tasks easier. However, we need your help to make it happen. Think about it—many of us buy lottery tickets or scratch cards without ever winning big. With the Bradbury Fields Lottery, your odds are better than the National and Health lotteries, and your participation helps support a worthwhile cause. Our lottery isn't just a game; it’s a vital source of income that can change lives. And you get a shot at winning up to £25,000 every week! Even if you don’t win, you'll feel great knowing you're making a difference. Here’s how it works: When you sign up, you get six numbers that are automatically entered every week. The winning combination is based on the last digits of the week’s Fahrenheit temperatures in six European cities. Winners are notified by email, and the prize money is transferred directly to you. Join us and play for just £1 today! Sign up here: https://lnkd.in/ezrgfbmt

The big Legislation lottery day! Most legislation is introduced by the government, with individual MPs responsible for proposing amendments as bills progress through the legislative process. However, MPs also have opportunities to propose their own laws through Private Members' Bills (PMBs). While there are several ways to introduce a PMB, the best chance of success comes from being one of the twenty MPs selected in a ballot for "balloted bills." For those lucky enough to be selected, but uncertain about which law to propose, their inboxes will soon be filled with pre-prepared bills from charities, think tanks, and various campaign groups - LinkedIn members would probably have a few suggestions. Although the odds of success are low, a few PMBs do make it through the process each year. However, even a small number of opposing MPs can easily block a PMB, so my advice to new MPs is to keep their proposals non-controversial and seek cross-party support. Additionally, it's important to communicate your plans with constituents and family, as successfully passing a PMB often requires spending several Fridays in Parliament instead of in your constituency. The lucky winners will be announced later this morning.

Continuing my theme of opining on the work of Ontario's crown 👑 corporations, this time my focus is the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG). As I've noted previously, I am an OLG lottery player. I play because I enjoy it and even though the odds are certainly not in my favour, it is a small amount of money to spend to have a (very small) chance to win a whole lot of money 💰 But what I wanted to touch on today are the OLG ads for the Lotto Max lottery. The ones with 'Max' the dream coach. The commercials focus on 'Maximizing' your dreams and the suggestions focus on things like a Villa in Tuscany 🇮🇹, a private lake, a super yacht 🛥, things like that. They don't focus on all the things you could do to help people who are struggling in your community, if you suddenly become a millionaire. Like supporting local charities who are doing good work, but straining to meet increasing needs. Or stuff that a lot of us would likely do if we won, like paying off a relative's mortgage or paying for a friend's kid's education or training. So, why do these lottery commercials focus more on individualistic dreams and desires as opposed to those rooted in family and community? Is that this is what's been proven to sell more tickets? Is it that this is what focus groups have told the OLG? While, I'd be interested to know, I'd also really just like to see some more community focused advertising, even though I'd imagine that it's typically individuals, not groups buying the tickets. And finally, here's a suggestion for a new OLG lottery. The 'Better Ontario 50/50 Lotto', an Ontario-only game where the Jackpot builds up over time and where the winner receives half of the jackpot in cash 💸 and is able to designate an Ontario-based registered charity of their choice to receive the other 50%. So, truly a win-win and also a way to promote the selected charity and their work. Rules and conditions would take some work, but do you think that this kind of a lottery would be a hit? I imagine that the lucky charities would love the infusion of (presumably) unrestricted funds to support their missions. #Lotteries #Commities #Ontario #Hope #Dreams #RandomMusings
