I'm might catch heat for this, but... Leading your marketing with your "why" is DOA 💀 When it comes to marketing, focusing exclusively on your "why" can backfire - making your message feel out of touch or even inauthentic. While Simon Sinek popularized the importance of the "why," the reality is that most people instinctively communicate their "how"... How they solve problems. How they provide value. The Golden Circle puts your "why" at the center of your universe, which is exactly where human perspective comes from. And that can be incredibly powerful with the right "how" and "what." The greats like Apple lead with their "why" because they developed an evolutionary ecosystem that directly solves mass market pain points. Their vision builds trust and relatability because the products they sell actually allow their customers to do remarkable things. But for most of us, your "how" and "what" need to orbit your "why" for it to be effective. Your "why" only matters if it's relatable and grounded in your audience's pain points. Marketing your "why" as if it's visionary is playing with fire if it lacks context or direct relevance. In regular life, people define their "why" to justify their opinions, not to show foresight. So, when businesses place their "why" front and center without explaining how it connects to the tangible issues their customers face, it can fall flat. Think about it: In conversations, people don't start with why they're doing something - they start with what they're doing and how they're doing it. The why surfaces naturally as a justification. The same applies to business. Your audience doesn't care about your big vision until they see how it solves a real problem. Successful marketing isn’t about making your audience feel like they need to share your grand vision. It’s about demonstrating that your vision directly ties into how and what you do to solve their pain points. Your "why" isn't a rallying cry - it's an explanation that comes after you've shown the value of your solutions. Let’s get real: 💡 Lead with how you make things better. 👉 Show what concrete results you provide. 🧠 Then, let your "why" be the reason they trust you long-term. Simon's Golden Circle video was the first thing I remember ever looking up on YouTube back in college (am I getting old?). I've always maintained the importance of "why." But it simply doesn't work without a great "how" and "what." 🤔 What do you think? _____________ I'm Daniel and I'm the founder of Empathiq Spend more time connecting with people. And less time "working on work". 🤖 #MarketingStrategy #AuthenticBranding #BusinessLeadership
