The EU Competitiveness Council met this week and adopted conclusions for “A competitive European industry driving our green, digital and resilient future The Council’s call for the Commission “to make industrial policy and the boosting of European competitiveness an integral part of its agenda for the next legislative mandate, working towards a new European competitiveness deal” is highly welcome. Europe does need a comprehensive, future-oriented and proactive industrial policy which addresses strategic dependencies and builds capacities and capabilities needed for our future. To this end we emphasis that it is essential to place electronics manufacturing at the heart of that effort as electronics enable the European industry at large and strategic European industries specifically. IPC will shortly issue a report that will further detail the state of the electronics ecosystem in the EU which will also identify areas of strategic dependencies. IPC, our members and industry partners look forward to working with the EU Institutions to reduce strategic dependencies and further enhance European competitiveness and resiliency. https://lnkd.in/ebZCBCd8 #electronics #europe #competitiveness #manufacturing #strategy #europeancommission

🔬 Investing in Europe’s future competitiveness through collaboration research, development and innovation Concawe, along with more than 100 associations representing key Research, Development & Innovation (#RDandI) European stakeholders, have undersigned a Joint Statement for an ambitious European Framework Programme for Research and Innovation (#FP10), urging the EU institutions to significantly increase the RD&I budget, in view of the FP10. This comes at a moment when the global technology race is accelerating and the EU risks lagging behind in terms of investments in RD&I compared to its international competitors. This puts at risk EU’s ability to capitalise on its full scientific and technological potential. 🌐 Concawe supports the idea that, by pooling resources and expertise together, industry can tackle the complex challenges ahead more effectively and accelerate and support the EU positioning in today’s technology race. In this letter, we endorse the proposition of a FP10 focused on cross-border collaborative RD&I, which can foster an environment of long-term public-private partnerships amongst diverse European RD&I actors. Through a more ambitious FP10, the EU can demonstrate its support to technology-intensive sectors, stimulating private investments in Europe rather than in third countries, and thus, supporting the EU green and digital transition. ⚙️ To remain a model of economic and social prosperity, Europe needs to strongly invest in pan-European collaborative RD&I, leveraging the expertise of RD&I public and private actors to strengthen its competitiveness. 📄 Read the full statement here: https://rb.gy/lfcsid #CompetitiveFP10 A.SPIRE, Cefic, CLEPA - European Association of Automotive Suppliers, Cosmetics Europe - The Personal Care Association, ERTRAC - European Road Transport Research Advisory Council, EUCAR - European Council for Automotive R&D, Hydrogen Europe.

The European chemical industry and 1000+ organisation leaders across Europe, greatly appreciate the European Council's recognition of our call for an urgent response to secure EU’s industrial competitiveness. We welcome their openness to work with stakeholders to build Europe’s industrial policy. This is a strong step forward, but more is yet to come. A core part of the conclusions is the recognition that the Heads of State should also monitor progress and regularly meet on the competitiveness agenda. “It is crucial these key statements are now laid down not only on paper but alsp in the structure and political guidelines for the next European Commission after the #EUelections”. – Marco Mensink, Director General, Cefic #antwerpdeclaration #industrialdeal #competitivenessdeal #greendeal https://lnkd.in/evHcj4TP
