"The opportunities really are endless!" • What advice would you give to women who are interested in a leadership role? "If you think you might be able to do it, you can. Never forget that this is about giving back. Take all the support you’re offered and give back by leading with humility and grace. “Let’s look for diverse talent.” “Well, we have to choose the best talent.” The latter comment irks me. It implies that diverse talent can’t possibly be the best, which is offensive. In my opinion, some confuse “best” with experience. Experience doesn’t mean the best skills or abilities. Sometimes diverse talent lacks experience because they haven’t been given an opportunity; opportunity that non-diverse talent is often, more easily afforded. It’s no coincidence that 3 Black women who were members of our team have moved on to become Judges (1 of which will move on in November). Imagine what could happen if everyone is afforded the same access and opportunities to showcase their skills, in front of those who hold power in organizations? I bet there would be no lack of diverse talent at leadership tables. #accessandopportunities #talentisuniversal #dei #allyship #sponsorship
