Nottingham County Court was the setting today. Despite the grey clouds and pouring rain outside the courthouse, there was a sense of optimism in Chambers 11 as a judgment was secured in favor of my commercial client. The deputy district judge was notably understanding and attentive to the facts & submissions presented. Take away points from todays learning experience: 1. Keep calculations and figures sought at your fingertips. 2. Keep a steady pace when speaking. 3. If you don’t understand a question from the judge, ask them to rephrase it. On to the next case…

📚🍎To help your school navigate the new Title IX requirements that went into effect on August 1st, Miller Johnson created on-demand Title IX training as well as a variety of template documents and other resources. The new Title IX regulations will impose a number of new notice, training, record-keeping, and compliance obligations on schools, colleges and other entitles subject to Title IX. It is highly important to abide by these new regulations because the USDOE will be enforcing the new rules against schools/colleges (except those covered by an injunction). 👉To access these resources, they can be found here https://lnkd.in/g8hKEVFS

Making LLMs that don't lie? New paper suggests that larger LLMs have a sense of truthfulness as a feature. That this feature can be enhances and monitored and appear to exist regardless of the training data. This implies that it might be possible to only ask for truthful answers and this might give a solution to the problem of LLM "hallucinations." https://lnkd.in/etXGhaQS

I need an LLM to summarize all the document summaries that other LLMs have summarized.

Warning: Another LLM post ahead: Keep me honest here: I've come across more than a few LLM-related pieces that describe RAG as helping LLMs by providing the latter with "information outside their training datasets." As LLMs are static with respect to both their training and the data used for it, this doesn't seem quite right. Rather it seems to me (in my admittedly incomplete understanding of both LLMs and RAG) that it's more accurate to say that RAG helps LLMs by providing the latter with better prompts--the LLM isn't augmented with outside information so much as the prompt is enriched with it. An important distinction, or Scholastic hair-splitting?
