I just finishing “Sustainability Foundations: Core Concepts” by Amy Luers! In Environmental Sustainability modules, i learned that : The world to be sustainable, it has to be resilient, net zero, and nature positive. 1. Net zero. To avoid the worst case as the impacts of climate change, we have a commitment to stop the global temperatures rising or it’s usually called Net Zero. Net Zero emission can be done by take action to reduce GHG and carbon removal actions. 2. Environmental resilience Rarely talk about it, embracing resilience is very important and necessary to ensure that our communities and ecosystems are better prepared, adaptive, and ready to face what will happened in the future. In sustainability, resilience is to design community and build ecosystems and societies that can cope , adapt, and rebound with climate change. For example: after a storm, resilient forest not just survive, but it can regrows and adapts and envolve changing conditions. 3. Nature Positive The act of commitment to sustainable, a prove to evolve understanding the connection between humanity and natural world. The action as solutions: a. Carbon and environmental accounting to measure the environmental cost b. Climate risk assesement to understand how much climate change could impact the industry and company activities Last but not least, the key to sustainability is the transformation : from linear to circular production, static to dynamic, and reductionist to holistic systems thinking Check it out: https://lnkd.in/gPwPhzqJ #environmentalsustainability.
