Chery has reached a significant milestone in 2024 by exporting nearly one million vehicles, marking the first time a Chinese automaker has achieved this feat within a year. From January to October, China exported 4.1 million passenger cars, with Chery contributing almost 940,000, making one in every four exported cars a Chery model. To celebrate this achievement, Chery held a ceremony in Wuhu, Anhui Province, where 332 Omoda 5 models were loaded onto a river transport bound for Shanghai, en route to Belgium. Chery's strategy, "In China, For Global" and "In Somewhere, For Somewhere," focuses on meeting diverse market demands by tailoring vehicle compliance, adaptability, and competitiveness for each region, thereby enhancing its global presence. This milestone highlights Chery's significant role in the global automotive market and its commitment to international growth. #Chery #AutomotiveMilestone #VehicleExports #ChineseAutomakers #AutoIndustry #CarExports #TechNews #Transportation

Check out my blog post https://wix.to/HNjPFBe Shares of major Japanese automakers fell significantly last week after the country's transport ministry revealed false data in vehicle certification. Toyota's stock dropped 5.4%, losing $15.62 billion in market value. Mazda saw a 7.7% decline, losing $511.8 million. Honda, Suzuki, and Yamaha also experienced stock drops. The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism's inspection found irregularities in applications from these automakers. Toyota halted shipments of three models, and Mazda suspended two models. Despite the scandal, stocks of these companies showed signs of recovery on Monday, with Toyota, Honda, and Mazda up by over 1%. #VeritasMedia #JapaneseAutomakers #Toyota #Mazda #Honda #Suzuki #Yamaha #StockMarket #FalseData #CertificationScandal #AutomotiveIndustry #MarketRecovery

Nissan note may be the lowest in price hatchback in the market to import Currently. With better fuel consumption and upcoming hybrid and electric versions, Nissan brands is becoming a better option for many. There isn’t big difference between Toyota brands and Nissan except personal preferences and resell value. Resale value for example Toyota Succeed is much higher after 2-3 years of purchase unlike Nissan note which depreciates easily in our local market but the fine thing is, both are reliable cars, hatchbacks, spares readily available and spacious. For hatchbacks, rear seats fold making it come with a compact design and integrated cargo space. As you can't import any vehicle more than 8 years in Kenya, you can get a 2017 Nissan note for about 170k to 200k, Pay total duty amount of 250k and pay port and agency fees of about 35k, total approx. amount 450k to 500k! This means importing a car currently is easier and cheaper than approaching a car broker or showroom and buying the same car at 700k to 1M. A save of 200 to 300k+ is a big win. With the right importers and customs agents, you can save your hard earned cash.

In automobiles, brand names are important for the product’s resale value. So what Chinese electric car makers have been able to do is even more impressive, as this shows that it is not only a matter of cheaper prices. That said, it was good to understand the difference in strategy between Chinese and Japanese automobile makers. The latter is betting on a hybrid strategy to take them ahead. China has put its foot on the accelerator in Southeast Asia’s EV industry, and its current lead over other contenders is only going to increase. https://lnkd.in/dYwTATfT

Well done to Stephen and team for this article - it must be the most comprehensive article/guide for all things Chinese Cars related. It will be interesting to see how this plays out in the future, but it is clear that the Chinese car manufacturers are producing some good looking cars, which are fully spec'd, that drive well and are at a great price point. At a time when most consumers are watching their spend but still expect to be delighted, the timing could not have been better. Demand for Chinese cars is up some 400% YoY on DubiCars, so dealers need to focus on what consumers want today v's what they purchased yesterday. If anyone would like more data or insights on this, then please dont hesitate to reach out. This is the classic textbook scenario of "Who moved my cheese?". You think Chinese automotive companies ate your lunch in China? BYD accounts for 1 in 8 cars sold in Singapore as recently as July, marking pace with Benz and Toyota. With COE hitting SGD 92k and the cheapest BYD car pricing itself at SGD 160k, this is not just a issue of undercutting prices. It's about providing value. Chinese automakers will eat your lunches globally. https://lnkd.in/g-C4FzCT
