The biggest barrier for startups, teams, and individuals, is not access to capital, lack of so called 'pedigree', or anything of that sort. It's far more pervasive than that. The biggest barrier is self-imposed self-limiting beliefs. If we believe even before starting and while building that we are at a disadvantage and there is no way we can compete with others who might have been dealt a better hand, well that's exactly what will happen. But going by that logic no startup should be able to make a dent in any space at all. There are multiple behemoths almost in every sector but Perplexity is still giving Google a run for their lives. There are multiple such examples. What we believe in is a very strong indicator of what probably will happen. #startup

We were discussing a feature with a user when *they* said - "Yes, this can be done in Valyx" We thought we'd heard wrong - how could they be using an under-development feature! Asked what they meant. Turns out they were storing the required data as "tags" (our version of Stripe's "metadata" that allows users to store structured information) and using the tag values to automate the business logic at their end. This was unexpected. When we added tags into our API primitives, we never thought of them powering business logic for our users! Just goes to prove: Every. Feature. Matters. However "simple" one might think a feature is, it can surprise you by driving outsized user value. PS: We ended up quickly building the feature so users don't have to put data into tags and build custom logic on top. PPS: Also happy that Inc42 put us into their list of 30 Startups to Watch Out!
