President & CEO at New England Donor Services and Associate Professor of Health Services, Policy and Practice at Brown University School of Public Health

Commitment from King Edward VII Hospital Executive leadership and the Minister of Health is an excellent start to increase organ donation in Bermuda. Saving lives through donation is a public health priority that requires community engagement - Bermudians are up to the task.

New England Donor Services President and CEO Alex Glazier met today with the Bermuda Minister of Health, the Honorable Kim N. Wilson, JP, MP in Hamilton, Bermuda to discuss organ donation on the island. For decades, many Bermudians have received organ transplant services from Boston-based transplant centers. For that reason, the organ procurement organization serving the Boston area has historically been responsible for the recovery of organs for transplant on Bermuda.
