From the latest edition of #TheProductionLine - Poor productivity in UK manufacturing is not just about poor investment in robotics and automation - although that is critically important: it's also about poor investment in people. According to Will Hutton, author of "This Time No Mistakes: How to Remake Britain", #manufacturers in Britain expect too much of government when it comes to #skills and #training, regard it as a cost not an investment and do not do enough to nurture skills in their communities, which he says happens to a much greater extent in Germany and some of the Nordic countries.
