Don't just hire them because you like them. Hiring someone new into the team should be based on competency, ability/willingness to learn, values and drive to succeed. I've seen so many times in the past (and I'm guilty of this to) that hiring managers over look the above in favour of hiring someone that they could see themselves going for a beer with. I mean, this term of "could you see yourself going for a beer with them" is so outdated. Teams need diversity. It's what helps bring new ideas and ways of thinking to the table.
