Comparing us to previous RPA vendors, our customers are feeling the difference of AI automation + a highly engaged team helping them harness its power. One customer even told us, “be careful not to burn out”, because they saw us saying yes to every request & releasing so fast. ⚡ AI workers have truly opened the door to automation in a way that RPA never quite could - something that’s explained beautifully in this a16z article with mention to HappyRobot’s logistics application. - AI doesn’t require you to define every single logical step like an RPA workflow does. Simply provide an AI worker with their goal & the context needed to achieve it & they’re off. - Because the flow isn’t so rigid, exceptions to the standard don’t break it. You’ll never be able to capture every potential response a person could give on a phone call. AI automation is dynamic & can react to any response while keeping its goal in mind & redirecting the conversation when needed. - We can get this implemented in under a week - sometimes under a day - compared to the previous expensive year long implementations that ultimately provide underwhelming results. You can see the impact of AI automation immediately & then continue to expand into other use cases. The criticism towards #RPA has been gaining momentum with the rise of #EnterpriseAIAgents and #GenAI-powered autonomous agents. Having spent nearly a decade deep in the RPA space, I can’t help but draw similar conclusions to this excellent thought leadership piece from Andreessen Horowitz. When I see AI agents in action, the biggest takeaway is this: we are now entering the realm of automating custom decisions and context—the very essence of what makes a business unique. This is something that rule-based automation couldn’t touch, simply because encoding all the logic into if/else rules was just too complex. So, automation is no longer only about cookie-cutter tasks in shared service centers. The big question now is: what’s the outcome of this new frontier? 🤖 LLMs have eaten rule-based chatbots. Will AI agents eat RPA? 😞 It's fair to say most RPA softwares have over-promised and under-delivered during the past two decades. Are LLMs here to rescue? According to a recent article by Andreessen Horowitz, we're shifting from "Automation 1.0" (RPA) to "Automation 2.0" (AI agents based automation) where tremendous opportunities reside for startups to reimagine intelligent automation vertically and horizontally. Every company has ops work – whether it's data entry, doc extraction, info transfer, etc – that is essential for achieving business goals (e.g., booking a customer), but is highly mundane / repetitive and not the best use of employee time. Though some companies have attempted to use Robotic Process Automation (RPA), RPA was an imperfect solution since the tech just wasn't advanced enough yet. Thanks to AI, though, ops work can now be truly productized. In the future, AI agents will be prompted with an end goal (e.g., book an appointment) and be empowered with the right tooling and context to take those actions. They’ll be adaptable to various data inputs and will be able to handle process changes.
