Sports embody the values of unity and excitement, and witnessing this at yesterday’s NFL game in Munich was inspiring. The match between the New York Giants and the Carolina Panthers was more than a sports highlight - it was the perfect opening for our Visa Days, filled with presentations, industry trends, and – most importantly – meaningful networking and open discussions with our clients. This is where our partnership truly comes to life. Thank you all for joining us.

⚽ "𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐁𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐅𝐨𝐨𝐭𝐛𝐚𝐥𝐥" - a panel discussion with Cliff Baty (𝘊𝘍𝘖 𝘢𝘵 𝘔𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘩𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘜𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘦𝘥), Susan Whelan (𝘊𝘌𝘖 𝘓𝘦𝘪𝘤𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘊𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘍𝘊) & David Courell (𝘊𝘖𝘖 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘍𝘈𝘐). ⚽ I attended this great talk last night hosted by the The Ireland Funds Great Britain. I'm not a football enthusiast so the insights shared on running a commercially successful football club were all new to me. 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝒌𝒆𝒚 𝒎𝒆𝒔𝒔𝒂𝒈𝒆: It's imperative to build a global brand - a club won't survive on ticket sales. Or as Susan Whelan put it "you've got to be about more than football, because you can't win all the time" As a talent professional, the story of how each panellist navigated their careers to secure the fascinating positions they hold today was most striking. It wasn't a clear linear journey for anyone. But tellingly these opportunities proactively 𝘤𝘢𝘮𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘮 off the back of great work and relationships they had built over multiple decades. Inspired by the football this summer, we played in a corporate 6-a-side football tournament in Oxford this evening. All started well, with 3 wins in our first 3 games. We were playing well, on a high, & starting to believe we could get somewhere if we keep this up! Sadly, we didn't keep it up. We got tired. Energy levels dropped and we stopped managing to get the early goals, which left us vulnerable to 1-0 defeats. Which is exactly how we lost the next 3 games. We had plenty of chances, but couldn't get the ball in the back of the net! 3 wins, 3 losses, so no knock-out stages or trophies for us, but it was a brilliant evening all the same. You come together and grow so much closer to your colleagues, when you do these sorts of events. You get better as a team. You learn loads about each other. You understand each other more and relationships get stronger. From a team building & culture perspective, these things should be common place in all businesses that want to be successful. It's so easy to dismiss them and not value time spent on outside competitions like this, choosing to focus purely on the day job and what's happening inside the business, but you're missing a big advantage if that's the choice you make. Every business is in the business of people, and bringing them together to compete for a shared goal, outside of work, really getting to know each other, is a big win. Regardless of whether you win or lose at whatever it is you're taking part in. #everydays

My fellow players, playing under the wrong manager can ruin your career. Believe it or not but a lot of managers are only managers on paper but not actually decent at their job. If you have the luxury of having multiple offers, please take your time before you accept an offer. Watch previous matches of the team, look at their style of play, look how many players play in similar positions to you etc I’ve been in situations where the manager was clueless. He didn’t know how to actually manage players, give constructive feedback, lacked tactical awareness, lacked understanding of the game as well as other issues I noticed. On top of this I was played out of position where my strengths were not used effectively. This is part of the game, you have to learn to adjust when you’re forced but if you have the option of speaking to the club about their vision for the future, their plans for you etc, you will save yourself a lot of headache. Look at Vitor Roque for Barcelona - talented young player but for some reason Xavi didn’t seem to be a fan of his; someone who was meant to be the next big thing ended up “wasting” a small chunk of his career but luckily for him he’s young and playing at the top level and has years to waste but that’s not the case for many of you. That’s why you see some players choosing teams like Dortmund for their growth before they make the next step. This is just something I want you to think about as I know many of you will be making move this summer. In other news, God bless and have a great week!

The more I engage with other business people and discuss the opportunities that golf creates for business, the more I believe that we are on the right path by creating an event that not only brings captains of industry together but also enhances our natural competitive spirit to see our team lift the trophy. Do you agree? Would you like to be a part of this? Looking forward to reading the comments.

I love Pep Guardiola's perspective on players moving on: "We change, everyone changes. It is normal. Most of the time it is the players who decide they want to leave. The club is always open to do it. There are other clubs where the release clause is the most important. Someone has to pay it or you stay." "I completely disagree with that. Always, when they are not comfortable working with the manager, the staff, the club, the city, whatever, they have to try to move on. Of course, there has to be an offer." "But if you come with an offer, I am pretty sure we are going to reach an agreement." That does not make it easy, though? Absolutely, because there are feelings. We live many things together through the good moments and the bad moments." "Those attachments are something special, of course. But at the end of the day it is all part of it. There is a natural way. I was born in Barcelona. Barcelona is my everything. But I still left." "And Barcelona had success after I left, Bayern Munich had success after I left. After I leave here, City will have success. It is part of life. I don't think it has to be a big drama." The Value of Recognizing Talent: Lessons from Toni Kroos' Departure from Bayern Munich In 2014, the football world was shocked when Toni Kroos left Bayern Munich for Real Madrid. Despite being a key player, Bayern failed to meet Kroos' valuation of his worth. Instead, they invested heavily in other players, which underscored the impact of not fully valuing their existing talent. This oversight didn't just cost them a player; it lost them one of the most talented midfielders of his generation. What can we learn from this in the corporate world? 1. Recognize and Reward Talent: Just like in football, every organization has star performers whose contributions are invaluable. It's crucial to recognize their worth and reward them appropriately. Kroos’ departure underscores the importance of ensuring employees feel valued and adequately compensated. 2. Understand Individual Needs: Every employee has unique aspirations and needs. Engaging in open dialogues about career goals and expectations can prevent top talent from seeking opportunities elsewhere. 3. Invest in People, Not Just Positions: Bayern Munich learned that players, much like employees, are more than their positions or titles. Investing in their growth and satisfaction fosters loyalty and long-term success. In an environment that acknowledged his worth, Toni Kroos went on to show his true talent at Real Madrid, becoming a cornerstone of their golden era and achieving incredible success. This highlights the power of recognizing and nurturing talent within any organization. #EmployeeEngagement #TalentManagement
