"Supply chain planning is like putting together a puzzle. The pieces have to fit together. For example, tight integration of input data to the supply chain planning model from ERP is very limiting, but improving interoperability with ERP as a system of record and improving data visualization is an imperative. Explore to understand the data sources, the cleanliness and frequency of data, and evaluate the use of machine learning and NoSQL to improve data quality and reduce data latency."

Great advice from Lora (as usual), focus on the problems you want to solve, get internal stakeholders on board; figure out the business value. Talk to peers then think about the technology and fit, and time to business value.

We have a problem on the supply chain training side. What we give our tactical and operational folks today is not anywhere near equipping them for tomorrow. Tomorrow's environment necessitates our folks to be ready to constantly watch, interpret, and adapt. Yes the fundamentals of supply vs demand don't change, but we are not teaching and equipping our learners with the ability to understand and take action on events as they occur. Whenever I teach the change management part of my classes, we always spend a chunk of time on this and I work with my learners to understand this and build a plan to deal with it. I also perhaps threaten my learners a bit with, "We all love burgers but we aren't going to make it to retirement on a "flipping burgers" wage and that's where you're going to end up if you don't take charge of getting ready #supplychainmanagement #logistics #learning #leadership

As always, Lora Cecere talks so much common sense! So many great insights! Every business is different and #supplychains are #complex so it makes sense that one solution doesn't fit all. I've heard so many companies say that they'll only talk to those in the Leaders quadrant - such a limited view that it's probably no surprise that they miss out on potential #value within the supply chain. Implementations are hard so it's vital to find a partner that you can work with.

"We establisehd a good Supply Chain Process few months back and invested in a customized supply chain software as well. But it's not giving us the expected results." These were exact words from our client when we met them for the first time. Merely having a good software or application does not solve the issue. In current time, many a business think that investing in a tool or software will solve all of their problems. This is not entirely true. While investing in software has its own benefit, but combinatio of software and good, smooth and leakproof process can only give the desired result. Don't get carried away when an IT Sales person visits you and offers you a promising solution. Their main focus is not to solve your problem instead sell their software. Analyze carefully if you really need this software at this moment and what problem are you trying to solve through this software. SAP is a good ERP system, probably best among competitors. But does it add value for a start-up to operate with SAP? Probably not. Read out the story from our first client and how we solved the problem. #supplychainmanagement #consulting #maturity #supplychain #software #supplychainsolution #solution https://lnkd.in/g5cjjQ3Q
