Happy New Year to all my connections. This was a good year for my office. I secured a number of victories for my clients. I am most proud of the following; 1. Most importantly, I spent much of the later part of this year in Maui helping with victims of the Lahaina Fire. I am proud to say I am representing many of them in the ongoing effort to make them whole after the tragedy in Lahaina. I will continue to travel to Maui regularly in the new year to meet with both existing clients and prospective new clients. 2. I legalized the carry of batons in Hawaii after prevailing in Yukutake v. Lopez. 3. I forced the City and County of Honolulu to change their mental health policies after receiving a permanent injunction in Santucci v. City and County of Honolulu. 4. I forced the County of Hawaii to remove its waiver which required CCW applicants to waive all of their privacy rights in Grell v. County of Hawaii. 5. I received a ruling from the Ninth Circuit which found that Hawaii’s ban on butterfly knives is unconstitutional in Teter v. Lopez. 6. I received a preliminary injunction in Wolford v Lopez which stopped Hawaii’s sensitive places law from going into effect. As a result of the preliminary injunction, my clients retain the ability to carry in the sensitive places challenged in that suit. 2024 is going to be a great year. I am already planning my next Second Amendment lawsuit in Hawaii and I will be filing it early in the new year. I also continue to work in California and the District of Colombia and next year I will have a lot to report about regarding those cases. Happy New Year!!! -Alan
