Exciting Times ahead

At today’s NACCE opening workshop, we explored the concept of mindset—how subconscious assumptions shape our approach to challenges and opportunities. The focus was on two cycles: the Innovation Cycle and the Status Quo Cycle. Where do you fall on the spectrum between: 🧠 Know and Imagine – Do you rely on what you know, or imagine new possibilities? ⚙️ Apply and Explore – Do you prefer applying systems you know work, or are you drawn to exploring uncharted territories? ✅ Validate and Challenge – Do you seek validation in your environment, or do you actively challenge it? 💭 Reinforce and Discover – Are you reinforcing established values, or striving to discover new truths? The workshop highlighted how we naturally detect and correct, using feedback loops much like a thermostat to keep us in a comfortable range. But the real magic happens when we open the loop and embrace the innovation cycle: 1️⃣ Imagine what could be different. 2️⃣ Explore how to bring that idea to life. 3️⃣ Challenge the status quo to gather insights. 4️⃣ Discover solutions and new opportunities. This Innovator Mindset requires being open, curious, humble, reflective, empathic, and adventurous—traits that push us beyond identifiable problems into the realm of new possibilities - and likely out of our comfort zones. #NACCE #NACCE24

Here we go again...With just one month to go, the #CES2025 buzz building is in full effect (as usual). And - as it has been for the past years – we will hear about much more than Consumer Electronics. Topics like sustainability, AI, diversity, societal impact and economic drivers will be center stage. A quick look at this years’ keynotes hints to the diversity of industries and topics  - a true cross section of what the show has become. From Accenture to Delta and from Sirius to Volvo, the stage is set. And more traditional tech players like Panasonic and Nvidia are also not just parading out product as the show once did, but talking to their brand’s impact across multiple categories. So what to expect? Not your regular staged keynotes either. The typical jazzed up PPT slides and guest celebs are being upstaged by the Delta keynote live from the Sphere – the interactive domed technology experience that opened with U2 and currently features The Eagles. Not a bad stage for an airline keynote! With the show being promoted as bigger than ever before, it will be interesting to see if the core message via technology gets diluted or reinforced by the multitude of diverse brands in attendance. The show has often proven that more isn’t more when it comes to innovation, but also remains the true launching pad for tech drivers of tomorrow. Either way this is my 27th year (how did that happen), so hoping for the best and to be impressed – whether we are saving the planet or simply entertaining it. You?
