Another RFP Alert: #rfp #smartcities #smartgrant #transportation #philadelphia Smart Right of Way Software RFP: The City of Philadelphia aims to reduce congestion, enhance livability, and provide the tools needed to address equity and improve safety on City streets. One of the main strategies to achieve these goals is to manage the right-of-way (RoW) digitally. This requires digitally codifying and creating a digital twin of RoW features and rules at a granular level that surpasses what is found in the City’s current digital inventory. The Office of Innovation and Technology, in partnership with the Streets Department, is seeking technology solutions for a pilot project to digitally manage the right-of-way (RoW): curb, sidewalk, and street space. The goals of this project are: to demonstrate means of automating ongoing digitization of the physical RoW and ingesting digitized RoW information from various data streams in various formats into a RoW management system; to demonstrate means for effectively managing the RoW using digital tools that interface seamlessly with diverse data streams that impact or rely upon an accurate “digital twin” of the RoW; to make use of continuous traffic data for motor vehicles, cyclists, and pedestrians in RoW management decisions; to disseminate to smart phone and other smart device users real-time information about the RoW; and to publish information in real-time about the RoW from the management system to digital signages along the RoW. Addressing the Challenges of Work Order Management in Municipalities! One of the most significant challenges municipalities face in work order management is response time. Over 68% of municipalities struggle to meet service requests promptly, leading to decreased citizen satisfaction and increased frustration. Delayed response times can stem from various factors, including inefficient processes, lack of real-time data, and inadequate communication between departments. This challenge not only impacts service delivery but can also strain community trust. To tackle this issue, municipalities can consider the following insights: 1. Invest in Technology: Implementing a modern work order management system can significantly enhance response times. These systems provide real-time data and enable staff to prioritize tasks effectively. 2. Enhance Communication: Fostering clear communication between departments can streamline workflows and ensure that requests are handled promptly. Collaborative platforms and digital tools, like CityReporter, can help facilitate this. 3. Utilize Data Analytics: Analyzing service request patterns can help municipalities anticipate peak times and allocate resources accordingly. By understanding trends, city officials can proactively address potential delays. 4. Training and Development: Investing in training for staff on new technologies and processes can improve efficiency and morale, ultimately leading to better service outcomes. By focusing on these areas, municipalities can work towards reducing response times, enhancing service delivery, and rebuilding community trust. Some interesting summary points from a panel session held by @RICS #WBEF - In the future, we will see office responsibilities currently managed by the chief financial officer shifting to the chief human resources officer, highlighting the importance of acquiring, managing, and optimising talent to achieve organisational goals. The office is about leadership, effectively using your assets, partnering with both landlords and tenants, and, as it always should have been, being #peoplecentric. -------------- We are all familiar with situations where a workspace redesign is driven by budget constraints rather than a focus on people This becomes evident when green walls are only placed in reception areas. However, within the workplace, there are still enclosed artificially lit corridors, which we know are not conducive to people’s well-being when spending the entire day at work. Consider a space that takes into account people, the physical environment, and available technologies. Such a space is more likely to succeed. For instance, it could provide a flexible layout that maximizes natural light when possible. Additionally, managing air quality and flow through continuous monitoring is crucial. Smart ventilation systems or the incorporation of greenery can help absorb carbon. The design includes adaptable spaces like telephone pods and meeting rooms that can be easily adjusted from large to smaller configurations. Furthermore, simplified accessibility to the building and its spaces is achieved through mobile devices, screens, and kiosks. The primary optimization of the building involves meeting the changing demands related to daily foot traffic and seasonal weather variations. Additionally, efficient management of mechanical components ensures smooth operation. By integrating all building components with a people-centric approach, we create an intelligent #builtspace. This not only performs efficiently but also positively impacts the environment. TESTIMONIAL Storetec offered an excellent service from the initial discussion all the way through to the scanning process. Any issues that arose (which were minor), were swiftly resolved. The end result has been the complete scanning of our microfiche records at a high quality and within the expected timescale. We no longer need to relocate our microfiche records which were taking up unnecessary space. Additionally, it was time consuming for officers to look up microfiche records both for themselves and when the public requested historic planning application documents. By having the microfiche fully accessible online, the council has made a real step forward in delivering services via digital means, ultimately, driving down cost. #digital #microfiche #digitisation
