In my continued quest to make #B2Bmarketing less boring, let’s talk about one of the most overlooked steps of a #contentstrategy: distribution. Distribution is just a fancy word for sharing your content across owned, earned, and paid media channels. Most often the distribution strategy is just posting the link. Honestly, if I had a nickel for every time someone has said “Just throw up the link!” to me in my career, my career break would have been a heck of a lot longer because I would be very rich. Of course, you can always just throw up the link and call it a day (just please for the love of all that is good make sure your link preview is good before you do that). But let’s make it a bit more interesting for when you want to make yourself stand out a bit more.

Switching from sales to marketing was scary. It got to a point where: I was getting rejected left and right on every job. I'd question myself every day about what I had gotten myself into. Each setback felt like a blow to my self-worth. Then came another challenge: Learning and working at the same time. There were times I just wanted to ditch it and give up. But I also knew nothing worth having comes easy. So I built a cabinet of advisors. It was a community of 3-4 people with whom I'd bounce off ideas so we could level up faster. My efforts started seeing the light of day. And so the achievements also started stacking up. I led hundreds of successful marketing campaigns that knocked it out of the park. I received awards and recognition for my contributions. I've mentored and shared insights for 4 years on LinkedIn. And then I built a seven-figure business with Mark while introducing our unique people-first model. My journey in marketing left me with a powerful lesson: The cost of entry in a new field is feeling like an imposter. So if you want to be an expert tomorrow, Accept being a clueless newbie today. A few weeks ago, I decided that I wanted to take on a few more advising clients. I ❤️ my day job with MKT1 but helping founders & first-time heads of marketing is extremely fulfilling, plus I get to do it through the lens of MKT1 and the frameworks Emily Kramer has developed. 1. I could have started networking, sending 20 emails to people in my network, and spending several hours on face-to-face calls explaining how I can help and who I am looking to work with. That probably would have resulted in about 5-10 hours of my time to end up with about 5 meetings with potential clients who may not have an exact need for what I'm offering. OR 2. I could have spent about 10 minutes writing a micro-article (LinkedIn post) to reach about 50,000 marketers in the span of 48 hours, resulting in 40+ short digital conversations (comments) with people who have an immediate pain related to the problem I'm solving for and several immediate requests by my ICP to learn more about what I have to offer. 10 hours vs. 15 minutes!!! MARKETING OVER COLD OUTREACH EVERY DAY. I need to show that to the CFO (oh yeah, that's me). In case you didn't see my post from a couple of days ago, I chose marketing. P.S. I could also use PhantomBuster to download a list of the 550 people who reacted to my post or commented, drafted a short email followup and used that same app to send a personalized LinkedIn message back to them, and generated a few more meetings that way. Warm outbound is OK - I'll only do when I really need to. #efficiency #marketing

A hill I'm willing to die on: Let your closers, focus on closing. Asking your sales reps to simultaneously hunt for new opportunities and close deals can lead to inefficiencies and suboptimal outcomes for your bottom line. While on the surface, these roles may seem similar, but they actually require distinct skill sets that can clash, leading to decreased efficiency due to constant context switching. To streamline your sales process, you need a robust, scalable, quantifiable, and automated system at the top of your funnel that consistently delivers multiple pre-educated, pre-qualified, and pre-nurtured opportunities to your account executives each day on a golden platter.

Typical workflow for a salesperson in staffing: 1. Researching companies to target (with ZERO clue what their problem was OR if they even used outside staffing help) 2. Researching people internally who could *possibly* give any answers 3. Creating a list for Target Account 1 4. Researching Target Account 5. Researching each person reaching out to 6. Creating a curated message for each person 7. Finally outreach: call / text / email / LinkedIn (manually) 8.
