So...I've completed the CRTO course. I'm yet to do the "second round" and some practise before the exam. With some time now on my hands, I want to document my experience thus far.
I started the course 3 weeks ago, having decided to change the way I find my place in this industry. I was done with chasing all the time. It's not healthy. I knew I had to establish myself. But that's only one half of it - knowing what not to do.
Last week I spoke with Ian Austin about my struggles thus far, and he highlighted a major problem - I had been playing "jack of all trades" thus far. It's great for someone who's been at this since decades. But I'm not. When people think of me, they must firmly associate me with "something". And so far I had not established this "something". It made complete sense hearing it. I got some major tips from him about how to go about doing this. And this is the second half - knowing what to do.
The best thing I've gotten from the CRTO course is "how to look at the big picture" (don't know if that was the course's intention or not). I've a better idea of what things I should be looking into (because it interests me), and contribute towards.

Dear CAT Aspirants,
Right now it's the most crucial time of your preparation journey. Many of you must have been preparing for the past several months, and many of you must have started your preparation recently. A lot of YouTube channels and coaching institutes will tell you that you only need 90 days or 100 days to crack the CAT. Well, yes, it entirely depends on each individual. It's going to be you who is supposed to gauge your abilities and decide what strategy/tactics and what amount of time works best for you.
This preparation journey will surely have its ups and downs and many learning opportunities. Embrace it and enjoy it!
I have been a student of CATKing Educare during my CAT preparation. I will be forever thankful for all the guidance and learning I gained from the exceptional mentorship of Sumit Singh Gandhi and other faculties of CATKing. My self-motivation and the constant push by the mentors of CATKing Educare helped me take a leap from 75%ile in CAT22 to 99.29%ile in CAT23.
Here's some advice to all the CAT aspirants: Stop running after everything you see on YouTube or other social media channels. Just stop running for a moment, take a deep breath, reflect on yourself, and understand why you are doing this. What is at stake? Which strategy/study method suits you the best?
In the end, what I believe is that coaching institutes and mentors are solely for guidance purposes, which is obviously the most crucial part of CAT preparation. However, the study methodologies, routines, and strategies are very individual and should be personally experimented with to determine what works best for you.
