The evolution of Content Sharing is really coming full circle and im absolutely here for it😊 I asked a friend during the Comrades week where they were following Comrades content and she was very oblivious to this and responded to say “Runners just aren’t those people” then two days later I sent her a whole lot of links- because, we really are coming full circle with content sharing. We document EVERYTHING. We were treated to behind-the-scenes glimpses of the sacrifices, training regimens, and triumphs of everyday athletes. 🏃♂️💪 The personal stories, emotions, and challenges they faced brought us closer to their journeys. Likewise, during the Olympics, Olympians have opened up their lives in the Olympic Village, allowing us to see their preparation, training routines, and the raw emotions leading up to their competitions. This immersive access has made us not just spectators but participants in their narratives. We are experiencing the joy of their victories and the weight of their struggles. The insights shared—from their mental prep to the supportive camaraderie (so thankful to auto correct🤣🙈) among competitors—reminding us that athleticism goes beyond the finish line; it's about the human experience that binds us all to global conversations. The Olympians are latching onto the success of Love Island in the most interesting way… The Olympics are FAMOUS for the Olympics Village, where the athletes stay. If the village is know for one thing, it's... Mingling with other athletes :) On TikTok, I've seen content from athletes over the last week referring to the Olympic Village as the Olympic Villa (a nod to Love Island). They're using same language / sounds / mannerisms as Love Island. And the Internet is eating it up. In a world where athlete-influencers are becoming more popular, this is a great way to jump on an existing trend. Plus, from NBCU's perspective, if athletes tell their stories through the lens of TikTok, then it humanizes the "characters" and gives viewers more of a story arc throughout the games. <See: Caitlin Clark> Imagine if we got to see an Olympics love story live through TikTok... I attended the Paris 2024 Olympics with top YouTube creators. Here’s what we were up to: The Olympics coverage has been a mainstay format for when you’re watching on the television. It’s effective and it’s great, but we saw an opportunity to bring a new creator perspective to the games. YouTube and multiple major broadcast networks across the world worked together to invite top creators to document the Olympics in a way that felt natural and authentic to their typical content and give viewers an inside look at the games, interview athletes and look behind the scenes. Collaboration between brands and creators can truly be a smooth operation. With clear briefings and short feedback loops to support creators, we were able to have them all produce a high volume of short form and long form content to share with their audiences. Creator 🤝 Broadcaster 🤝 Sports Governing Body = Unique storytelling that compliments the official Olympics broadcast. We wanted creators to share fresh perspectives and insights to sports that many of us only see every four years. From Artist Swimming to Beach Volleyball, creators shared stories beyond the competition and showed us who these athletes are when they're not on the world stage. We didn’t just focus on creators from the sports niche. Instead, we had big names from various niches like fashion, lifestyle, and even kids' content. This allowed the Olympics to reach Gen Z and Gen Alpha audiences who might have never tuned in otherwise. The Olympics understood that they needed to meet people where they were giving attention to in the first place… YouTube, the home of Living Room. Sometimes taking risks and stepping out of the traditional box can lead to unexpected and powerful results. Also, I want you all to be on the lookout for the 2028 Summer Olympics because I’m already starting to practice my backflips for the gymnastics team!

After nearly 3 years at Outcast and 20 years in Comms, I'm excited to highlight my next career. Being involved in and playing sports have always been hugely important to me (and millions of others). They've helped mold who I've become. From youth soccer to ice hockey, swimming and now endurance sports, sports build confidence, appreciation, self-esteem and connection with others. But as adults, we are told to "grow up" and focus our attention on everything else but "play games". Suddenly, that real connection and supportive community gets lost and is hard to find again. Yet the passion and fire to grow and get better still lives within us. Insert Front Pack, the first standalone sports social network for athletes. Meaning anyone focused on a goal and the pursuit of positivity and wellness through sports should join. Built on the values of authenticity, fostering connection, and building community, the mobile and web app will exist to unite like minded athletes, coaches, and others centered on personal growth and lifting each other to be better. It is early days but I am excited. In the last 6 weeks I've: --> Built my newsletter to more than 1K subscribers.
