While working and exploring innovative use cases to enhance customer experience and streamline the purchase journey on digital channels, I discovered several fascinating applications of data science in the fast-paced real estate market. Here are two good examples of buy/sell platforms that I came across: 1. Zillow delivering precise property valuations and pricing estimates to improve user experiences and drive substantial business growth. 2. The way Opendoor assesses fair market values and offers sellers instant cash offers, streamlining transactions for all parties involved. While I highlighted above examples, there are many innovative use cases emerging across the real estate sector aimed at engaging customers at the right time and through the right channels, ultimately driving conversions. From market mix models that optimize spending in Digital Marketing to Multi-touch attribution that accurately credits conversion channels, data science and AI are fundamentally transforming the buying and selling experience. As we continue to embrace these advancements, the potential for enhanced customer engagement and satisfaction is truly exciting. "4 or 5 moments..." Professional reflection brought to you by a scene in Deadpool 2 and a little inspiration from an old friend! In the movie, Colossus tells Wade there are only 4 or 5 moments that really matter over a lifetime. Although he was talking about being a hero, I thought about which career moments have really stuck out as significant - the ones that shaped how I think about what I do and why I do it. 🕰 #1 As a young market researcher, I learned about and implemented the van Westendorp pricing meter in a product study, then modeled out the data to show potential revenue impact. I was hooked on hard-hitting quant after that. "What, so what, now what?" was imprinted in my brain and I vowed to never just publish a bunch of pie charts again! 🕰 #2 I interviewed a nursing home purchasing director as part of a UX study...I went back the next year for another project and her life had completely changed. She opened up and shared some personal bad news and a reminder to cherish every day. In that moment I realized that our products/sites/policies were so insignificant in the grand scheme of things - my POV on UX/UI and all things customer experience were changed in an instant, as was my POV on work/life. I don't live to work, I work to live, but I work a lot, so I'd better do something that matters! 🕰 #3 I was uncomfortably pregnant on a flight home before hitting my last trimester (and very happy to not be flying for a while!) We'd had a great trip, but I was tired! My boss traded me his first-class seat for my economy seat so I'd be more comfortable and could get off the plane faster. To him, a small gesture. To me, a standard in leadership that would set my bar in the years to come - for who I am as a leader and what I look for in others. Have a formative moment you'd be willing to share? Please comment! 🚀 Thrilled to share the culmination of my MSc Data Analytics journey! 🚀 I've completed my final year project, "Enhanced Game Balancing Through Machine Learning", where I tackled a major issue in competitive multiplayer games: game imbalance. By using machine learning techniques, I was able to analyze gameplay data from Dota 2 to detect and address imbalances in hero abilities and game mechanics. Key Highlights: - Analyzed 10,000+ Player records using the OpenDota API. - Implemented logistic regression and isolation detection models to identify anomalies and imbalance patterns. - Provided recommendations for game developers to enhance player retention and create fairer gameplay. This project has not only expanded my knowledge of machine learning applications but also deepened my passion for video game analytics. Big thanks to my supervisor Dr. Asim Ali for guidance and support throughout this journey!
