BJP Triumphs in 2024 Election, Defeats Coalition The 2024 election concluded yesterday, drawing striking parallels to a memorable cricket match from my childhood. It reminds me of a match between the world champions Australia and the Rest of the World XI. While the World XI was expected to falter against the mighty Australians, their spirited performance generated considerable discussion, even in defeat. In this election, the BJP emerged victorious, securing more seats than the entire INDIA alliance, which consists of various different parties. Despite their collective efforts, they could not surpass the BJP's dominance. Much like the World XI, the INDIA alliance's performance was noteworthy, but it fell short against the well-established and cohesive BJP. The BJP's decisive victory underscores the challenges of maintaining stability within a diverse coalition. Just as the World XI team was assembled for a single match, the INDIA alliance, comprising numerous parties with differing agendas, may struggle to function effectively as a unified government. In contrast, the BJP's consistent and unified approach, akin to Australia's cricket team, positions it as a more stable and reliable governing force. As we reflect on the election results, it is clear that the BJP's singular vision and organizational strength have once again proven to be a winning combination, outshining the fragmented opposition.

Concerns about pitch conditions in Pakistan Test matches. The recent match between Pakistan and England has raised alarm bells. Pakistan's 1st innings ended at 556, but England's dominant 779/5 has exposed the pitch's lack of challenge. This lopsided contest undermines the sport's competitive spirit. Flat pitches, like the one in question, unfairly favor batsmen and demoralize bowlers. The absence of a compelling contest harms cricket's essence. Let's ensure balanced conditions that test skills, strategy, and endurance. A flat pitch that produces 1300+ runs in just 14 sessions isn't cricket; it's batting practice. The beauty of Test cricket lies in its unpredictability and fair competition. Call to action: - ICC, please intervene to ensure fair pitch conditions. - Pakistan Cricket Board, prioritize competitive cricket. - Let's preserve cricket's integrity and excitement.

Opinion: What is more important for Pakistan and Mohsin Naqvi? Chairman of the Cricket Board or the Minister of Interior? #PCB #PakistanCricket #Mohsinnaqvi #ChairmanPCB #MediaBites By Imran Malik: The wounds from the Cricket World Cup defeat are still fresh because we not only lost to India but also to the USA in the USA, and then we couldn’t even make it to the Super 8. Cricket analysts had predicted this defeat since we lost the first match to Ireland and both matches in England. Mohsin Naqvi could not bring any success to us as the Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). But you should also know that he is a Senator and the Interior Minister of a sensitive country like Pakistan. Additionally, keep in mind that he is also the Chairman of the City Media Group. While his idea for City News was successful, despite all his efforts, he couldn’t bring 24 News HD into the top 10 list, which is a major failure in his media career. Now, let’s talk about the Pakistan cricket team. He, himself, is not a cricketer, and his governance style shows that he cannot manage cricket affairs. After successive failures, he should have adopted a professional approach and distanced himself from cricket matters, handing over the responsibility to a professional. Cricket has never stood still, but the pace of change has perhaps never been so great as it is right now. Poised for entry into the Olympics in 2028, with women’s cricket bigger than ever before, but with the future ownership of English counties hanging in the balance and Test cricket under threat, we will gather in Loughborough to discuss the thorny question: What will cricket look like 10 years from now?

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has introduced a Hybrid Model for the 2025 Champions Trophy, following India's refusal to travel to Pakistan due to security concerns. Under this arrangement, Pakistan will remain the official host, but India's matches, including potential knockout games, will be played in Dubai. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) agreed to this compromise after receiving assurances that a similar Hybrid Model would be used in future ICC tournaments hosted by India. Additionally, the PCB was awarded a Women's ICC event to be held after 2027. However, this resolution has sparked internal tensions within Pakistan's cricket community. Critics, including former captain Basit Ali, have expressed disappointment with the PCB's decision, feeling that the compensation is inadequate. Ali has described the allocation of the Women's World Cup as a "lollipop" and argued that the PCB should have pushed for hosting rights to more prestigious events, such as the Asia Cup. This debate highlights the ongoing challenges and complexities in international cricket, particularly when it comes to balancing security concerns, hosting rights, and tournament scheduling.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has issued an ultimatum to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB): accept the 'Hybrid' hosting model for the 2025 Champions Trophy or risk being excluded from the tournament. The PCB's refusal to accept the model led to an inconclusive ICC executive board meeting on Friday. The 'Hybrid' model proposes hosting India’s matches in the UAE due to India's security concerns about traveling to Pakistan. While most ICC board members sympathized with Pakistan, they urged PCB Chief Mohsin Naqvi to agree to the model as the only viable solution. If Pakistan refuses, the ICC may relocate the entire tournament, possibly to the UAE, without Pakistan’s participation. This could cost the PCB $6 million in hosting fees and a significant share of its annual revenue. The BCCI and India’s Ministry of External Affairs have reaffirmed that Indian players cannot travel to Pakistan. Meanwhile, Pakistan may retaliate by pushing for similar arrangements for the Women’s T20 World Cup in India in 2025. The ICC board will reconvene on Saturday to finalize plans, with new ICC Chair Jay Shah set to take charge on December 1. #indiancricketeam #thebharatpost

On 19 March 2024, Cricket Australia ("CA") announced its withdrawal from a scheduled Men’s T20 series against Afghanistan because of the ongoing restrictions on women/girls in the country (who are banned from playing any sport and deprived many basic human rights under the ruling Taliban). This has thrust the spotlight on Afghanistan’s continued status as a “Full Member” of the ICC INTERNATIONAL CRICKET COUNCIL and whether more national cricket associations should be following CA's lead by taking matters into their own hands. The ICC’s inaction towards the Afghanistan Cricket Board (“ACB”) appears even more stark given that, as recently as November 2023, it suspended Sri Lanka Cricket (“SLC”) due to a “serious breach of its obligations… to manage its affairs autonomously and ensure that there is no government interference”. Although SLC's suspension was subsequently lifted in January this year, there have been allegations of double standards in circumstances where Afghan women/girls are banned from even playing cricket under the Taliban. Such outright prohibition is, on the face of it, one of the more extreme examples of government interference. Against such a backdrop, albeit a complex geo-political one, it begs the overarching question: why has the ICC not taken action against the ACB in accordance with its governance framework? In this article, I examine: (1) Some of the express constitutional and regulatory requirements for ICC Members; (2) The ICC’s historic handling of allegations of “political inference” in cricket; (3) The events leading to SLC’s recent suspension; (4) Whether the ACB’s circumstances are distinguishable (and/or if the ACB should be afforded “special” treatment); and (5) What the future of Afghan cricket might entail. BCCI rules on the importance of playing domestic cricket in off-season for earning central contracts!! It is productive to maintain touch with the game at grassroots level and helps the aspiring cricketers to face-off against some senior names in the game. But, is that really helpful when we look at the impact of team compositions? I have compiled a list of 61 cricketers who made their Indian Team debut in the last 7 years along with few prominent names in International/IPL level, those emerging IPL names, totalling to 86 names, based on their most recent cricket team at the domestic circuit. Check out the names present in each team, as mentioned in the picture appended to the post, and the contribution of talent from each side to the International level. If you liked the read, please do like, repost and share your thoughts over the same. 6moThe BJP's victory in the 2024 election highlights the strength of a unified party over the fragmented I.N.D.I.A alliance, much like Australia's dominance in cricket over a less cohesive World XI 😅
